Cracking result and couldn't ask for more considering the team were down to 10 men. Ridehalgh was a fool, but given he is currently the longest serving Tranmere player, barring Kirby, who has also played in league 1 for the club, his desire for the club to get back where it had a chance of being, was probably a different kind to some, but he was fortunate it didn't cost Tranmere the result.

Tranmere didn't deserve to be in the league the past 3 years on merit, not on bad luck, or owners hogtying managers on player recruitment, but now they do deserve to be back in the league and they have a good shout at making the top 3-7 I think, with the nucleus of the team intact and it will be easier to keep those players when they can earn a bit more in the coming weeks.

Mellon will have a hard task on his hands, because unless he signs Ginelly and Monthe, then there's two players guaranteed not to start next season, but he couldn't realistically use the remaining 9 that started the game and only recruit their replacements, plus 2-3 others to replace released backup players.

New recruits should be brought in with the potential to start the first game in league 2, as that is a strong recruitment mentality.

There will have to be some people playing today who are a bit disappointed in six months when they aren't a regular selection, but for Micky I would think it's a nice problem to have right now.

Certainly this is a very positive step and dovetails well with the work done off the pitch to build revenue and develop facilities.

Hopefully Tranmere can mount a serious challenge for the top 3 or playoffs, as most of the players playing today would be capable of making that happen and I could see Norwood and Cook potentially getting 35-40+ league goals next season.

It's going to be an interesting 3 months ahead, but some teams in the past have done consecutives promotion from NL league to league 1, so why can't Tranmere?
