Managers in the footy league are to be shown yellow n red cards. Starting this season, managers will be shown cards for any misconduct on the touchline/technical area.

i think fifty has hit the nail on the head, its because they have to be 'Oh so exclusive.'.. can a manager see a straight red? if he kicks 2 water bottles instead of 1 then maybe lol.

Hasn't the ref always been able to eject a manager from the game? I guess it looks more dramatic if a card is involved.

Maybe we can give cards to three stewards to use to control unruly supporters in the stand. And the police outside too

Given the dire standard of refereeing it is a pity that the league has not got the courage to set up a secret shoppers type group that undertakes an assessment of referees. I have no time for managers that wave imaginary cards from the touch line but equally the exasperation that comes from a dire performance by officials requires as much consideration of the cause as of the effect

Naturally the assessment would never be done by the fans

It is not about striking them off any list but about the FA doing more about the training of refs rather than thinking bad enough is good enough

I wonder if any managers in the EFL received yellow or red cards yesterday..? On a separate note, I see that yesterday Shrewsbury were the first club in the EFL to have safe standing at their ground.

Prob makes sense to have the lower section of the Kop as standing area

So the 'accolade' of being the first manager in an EFL match to be shown a red card actually falls on 2 managers, Derek Adams and Chris Powell. Both sent off in a touchline altercation in the 39th min in last Saturdays Plymouth v Southend game, they both now face bans.. I was hoping that 'honour' would have been awarded to Joey Barton.

Don't get the hate for Barton

He's far more erudite, intellectual and talented than any of the sheep that like to hate on him. And he has better taste in music than them to boot

Boss player. Great hair too.

He is a class A1 a*shole, and as for his hairstyle and spectacles that he now wears, trying to pass himself off and kid us all that he is some kind of studious, learned university intellect, what a joke! we all know what you are really like Barton.

It's such a low hanging fruit, tabloid following jibe. I doubt the people who call him thick have ever had an original thought or read a difficult book.

Joey's a great lad in my book

The Smiths and Morrissey , a good taste in music????? do me a favour.. all that post punk cr*p of the Smiths, Ian Curtis and Joy Division and Tony W*nky Wilson at Factory records was an endless bore to me and the music went absolutely nowhere..All that dreadful music played on the back of punk as being a counter culture, yet the real forerunners to punk were those radical out n out rockers such as the MC5 and the Stooges. Curtis, The Smiths and the likes shared a Thatcher depression and industrial strife but the majority of them were arty f*rty students from university with degrees in Art and Latin. They were not unemployed mechanics, tyre fitters and welders from the production lines. I have always had an opinion that all of that UK scene was the start of smackhead Britain, dire flats full of p*ss and suicide and listening to some sad Lou Reed piece.. The blues is the music that is the the most emotive and true, and that late 70s/early 80s UK post punk scene was a complete load of t*ss n drivel.

Not sure about this penchant you have for those with a thuggish persona; fans terrorising others, Maradonna, Barton. Marlon King's record must stir your loins!

Alternatively, you are king of the WUMs!
