Rovers 1-0 up

Norwood stops halfway through the first half and shouts to the Manager 'gaffer what's his name' referring to the Spanish trialist....

Enrique....is the response from the bench.

& he scores

Castaño was born in Las Palmas, Canary Islands. After starting out with AD Huracán's, he completed his formation with Real Madrid, joining its youth system in 2007 at the age of 14. He made his senior debut on 13 May 2012, playing with the C-team against CF Trival Valderas.

In the 2012 summer Castaño joined AD Alcorcón, initially being assigned to the reserves.[1] On 2 February 2013 he appeared in his first game as a professional, playing 20 minutes against in a 0–3 away loss against Hércules CF.[2]

On 2 September 2013 Castaño joined another reserve team, UD Las Palmas Atlético, in Segunda División B.[3]

dont mean to sound to negative about this but is this another player using tranmere to put himself in the shop window so he can play in the higher leagues

Considering his last club which is playing in the Tecera division, a league with some amateur sides in it in a regional system, I'd say he isn't.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

Can't see the problem here ?
We want to see players come in who are as good as or better than what we have.
A young lad, with caps ( and a goal ) for Spain u16/u17 and was on Real Madrids books....plays his first 45 minutes in England ever in a new team and scores ( something whixh approx. 20 other players for us didn't manage to do last night ) ... I fail to see why anyone would be anything other than excited ?

If, as stated by the earlier post, Norwood didn't even know his name then it is hardly surprising that he didn't do much. Add in that he's Spanish and has to adjust to a whole new style of football. It's probably more important what he does in training over the next few days. If he's still around by the weekend, then you can begin to judge him.

Agreed the play went round him early on but he stuck at it and looked assured on the ball and very observant as to who is around him. He also was willing to put his foot in and went for his headers also. Difficult in the circumstances to know either way but yes training would give a good idea.

Last 3 seasons we are used to seeing people in Stourbridge, Barrow or Southport kits before they turn SWA

Jack Dunn's credentials with Liverpool and England were better than this lad's at Real and Spain.

Fine by me if he's trying to get a move to England and, if it works out well for him or us then great, but I'm not getting excited about this just yet.

have just shown his pic to my lass and she thinks tranmere should sign him but only coz she thinks he looks handsome and nothing to do with his footy skills. lol.. he might bring in a few more female fans to prenton, a bit like what david ginola did when he was at spurs lol.

The thing i don't get and it's not so much an annoyance but more like an irritating itch is that we're naming all of our triallists.

For us fans it's brilliant because we know who is on trial and we can do a little bit of history checking but the flip side is that everyone does without even taking an in depth look into them. If they have a good game or score a goal or 2 then they could be off before we get to see them again.

Slightly naive by the club as we're one of the only clubs i've seen doing it this pre-season.

Don't think naming them makes any difference in terms of keeping things secret from those inside the game. Agents and other assorted hangers-on will make sure the players' plans and whereabouts are known to whoever might be interested in them.

Yeah i thought that, that's why it's not so much of an annoyance for me because even if we gave them names as an anagram of their real names then it's still not hard to get hold of the information.

Just makes me wonder why we're naming unlike every other club who are still using the old fashioned A-J triallist way of naming on a team-sheet.

I'm sure my Mrs would feel the same! There's no way I'm showing her as the thought of her accompanying me to PP to assess his tackle, fills me with dread. I'll show her a picture of McNulty to keep her well away!

Yes and I would think a decent scout could work out in time who Oscar E A Quentin was.

Tell you what, if i had a scout and he was pulling anagram solving out the bag aswell as an in-depth report then he's worth every penny. (Sm39)
