Haha
Look it's fairly obvious he will be here for a while. Small margins and all that. Would he have stayed in if we hadn't gone up. For me no but we did so we are where we are...

sacked when Fleetwood were 4th (because of three defeats in a row). how fickle clubs are.

Too true and Graham Alexander came in and failed to get promotion that season and near the need Andy Pilley called it a consolidation season. okay Alexander pulled off Pilley's wants, but Mellon could have potentially done what he wanted too.

It was a poor decision.

Looking at the career management win percentage of the 24 managers for this coming season in League 2, Micky comes in 2nd place with a career management win % of 49.89%... Cowley is top with 54.1%

Impessive stats for Cowley, but most of his career has been in non-league management, so it would be interesting what happened if he went from Lincoln to somewhere perhaps higher up as to whether the rigours of a budget, possibly allowing for wages of £10,000+ on individual signings, would be too much for him.

He certainly would have limited connections in league football as his entire playing career was non-league, but so far he has shown laudable progress as a manager.

I'd still say at this moment though for getting Fleetwood promoted and Shrewsbury and Tranmere and for having a greater longevity in league football management, Mellon edges it for me.

Three promotions on any CV is impressive albeit that both Fleetwood and to a degree Rovers were clubs that in relative terms offered a better budget than many of their rivals. What Mellon has yet to do is to go on and consolidate that with further success at the same club. When it comes to promotions the achievements of Coleman at Accrington are breathtaking

Yes, spotted them myself this evening. Like some of us on here though, not the full melon. Only slices available; might be Mellon's fate if we struggle!
