Estimates of AVERAGE Home Attendance
27 June, 2018 12:53
Just a bit of FUN. Following Rovers Success at Wembley, the average season ticket sales appear to have passed 3,500 (First time ever?), so noting the last few years Average Home Attendances (I think it was about 5,300 last season), Just having a FUN estimate of what our Home Gates could be this season (noting the divisions locations which could bring a few hundred away fans to each game).
My Estimate for 2018-2019 is :- 6,789
What's Yours ?

A little bit over last season would be my guess. 5,500? It depends how we go though.

I would say another 300-500 home fans a week and 300-400 away fans. I go with 6050.

I've seen this sort of figure bandied around a few times so thought I would check. According to the EFL site the average away following in L2 was 484. That was in 2016/17 and the latest figures I could find on a quick internet trawl. Since that season Pompey, Plymouth, Blackpool and Luton who were probably the best followed teams have all been promoted. (Coventry came down but went up again so can be ignored). It is very reasonable to expect that the average away following in L2 next season will be in the region of 400-450, perhaps even less. Now I don't know how many away fans visited PP last season on average but we aren't talking 2 men and a dog so, I'd estimate, that we could probably anticipate about an extra 250-300 on the gate for away fans.

So to get to 7,000 we would need to attract the equivalent of around 1,400 extra home fans a game and get league average away followings which can fluctuate based on geography, opposition form and timing. I'd suggest the only way we get to this sort of level is by challenging for the league from start to end of the season.

There was defo one or two games when we were lucky to have 2 away fans without even the dog 😂

5323. Will be a tough season but let's hope we put in some decent performances, and hold our own somewhere in the top half

According to the figures in the club official programme the total attendance for the 23 home games was 118082, an average of 5134. Just under half these (app 2400) were season ticket holders. This year I believe that figure is nearer 3500. Assuming a proportion of those were previously pay at the gate, perhaps say a quarter were new supporters. The previous poster told us the average away support might be 400/450. Based on the above my prediction for the hew average is 5600.
