Looks half decent, stats don't really tell a clear story. How often was he a sub, how much actual game time did he get. Etc.
We also don't know how many cookie would score in this league, I'm happy with 4-5 players chipping in with 10-15 each rather than a single player expected to get 20+
sorry Andy but there is no way that 4-5 players will chip in with 10-15 goals each. thats never gonna happen. if it does miraculously happen this season then we will probably p*ss the league,lol..take the season just gone for example- after cook n norwood our 3rd highest scorer was connor jennings with 8 goals and next was richie sutton with 5 goals...we need to replace cook imo. this mullin lad does not appear to be prolific up to now, but hoping that will change soon. i reckon cook would score goals in league 2 for us.christian doidge scored 20 goals for FGR this season just gone and that was in an FGR side that struggled. if Doidge can step up from the VNL and still bang the goals in, then so can cookie. Doidges goals have probably stopped FGR from an immediate return to the VNL.
We let's see, so we had 3 players scoring 8+ so if we could make that 5 scoring 8+ i would be happy.
To me cookie was decent in a fairly good free scoring side in the VNL, this year he will potentially be in a struggling side. I'm hoping he does well as he was great for us, but I don't see him getting more than 8-10 this year. Maybe he will be back on loan assuming it wasn't simply a massive wage rise he moved for
Hi Andy, i suppose it doesnt really matter who scores the goals as long as we score enough of them, lol. Its interesting to note that Macc finished as champions and they didnt have a 20+ goal striker, their highest scorer last season only scored 14 goals. I am not saying its absolutely imperative to replace Cookie and his goals and/but if we dont then we do need more of our midfield and wide players to bag a few more. A 20+ goal striker can be a massive asset for us though in league 2 at either end of the table, whether it be pushing for promotion eg. Billy Kee ( Accrington ) 25 goals OR surviving the drop eg. Christian Doidge ( FGR ) 20 goals.
Interesting to look at the 2 promoted sides TRFC and Macc. We scored 78 goals in the VNL , Macc scored 67 ,and also who n where the goals came from..
TRFC top 6 scorers last season. Macc top 6 scorers last season.
Cook 28 goals, Wilson 14 goals
Norwood 23 goals, Marsh 9 goals
Jennings 8 goals, Whitaker 9 goals
Sutton 5 goals, Durrell 8 goals
Norburn 4 goals, Hancox 7 goals
Cole 3 goals, Blissett 5 goals
Rovers relied heavily on Cook n Norwood to fire us to promotion, whereas Macc was a bit more spread out with their midfield/attacking midfield helping them on their way.
