I’m watching it for the first time (only up to 70 mins so far - watching between jobs), wasn’t there and only seen highlights so far. What a game Manny had, absolutely solid at the back, not the best distribution but solid defender.

If McNulty doesn’t re sign, then I think we should look to him!

have watched the full game twice now and that jay harris challenge early in the second half in the 49th min, I remember seeing it at Wembley and thinking, thank god he timed it right and got the ball, don't want to think or imagine what would or could have happened if he hadn't.

Yes but perfectly timed and probably match changing as the mood went up several notches. Glad he's got a contract

Did a HKR (watching Rovers at crazy times!) and watched the whole drama at a ridiculous time last night/this morning. Even having been there and knowing the outcome, it's still dramatic and wrangles with the emotions. At the time it was a hugely tense affair, but watching it back we never seem to be in any real danger; perhaps knowing the outcome skews my perspective on this? Had to laugh at McNulty's post match interview remembering how someone had previously mentioned his scouse roots and the need for an interpreter! smiling smiley

I see they are replaying the game in the tent after the England v Panama game, could be a good day out that.

Sounds a bit like something they used to do at the cinema, where they show a Batman movie after a Goofy cartoon.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

But with real ale at the interval instead of pick in mix?

I've watched the game half a dozen or so times (my kids can't understand why, but after 27 years of waiting :-) ) I looked at it with particular attention to the ref....the sending off was somewhat contentious, I still think it should have been a yellow, but can see why it was a red (in the last game I saw him ref on TV, Sutton vs Bromley he clearly bottled sending off the Sutton keeper, maybe that was a factor in sending off Rides). I also timed the stopage that Sutton's injury caused and it did cause a 2 minute delay, so he probably got that right too, I think he had a fairly good game, and to be fair is on balance a good ref. I recall in the away game at Solihull he was very strong telling their players to go away when the were trying to get Harris sent off after a typically 'Harris' challenge for the ball. He had also taken our games at Aldershot, Sutton and Bromley and I can't recall anything untoward at any of those games.
It appears that he has been promoted to the League.

Neil Hair was nowhere near as bad in the Wembley final than what he was in that sutton v bromley game. it seems that quite a few people are in agreement that it should have been a straight red for Ridehalgh but i think we have all seen worse challenges where the player hasnt been sent off.

To be fair to Neil Hair, at least he had the gonads to make the big decision and the right decision in my eyes. We'd have been screaming from the rooftops for a red if the shoe had been on the other foot. We've seen so many refs bottle these big decisions that it can lead to us feeling a little hard done by. I thought Neil (on first name terms now!) had an excellent game in the final and didn't fall (unlike the Boreham players) for their attempts to deceive him. There was a clear ball to hand situation in the box late on in the game when we were defending and I have seen these given on many occasions, so fair play to Neil's assistant and you could say things balanced out on the big calls. I've bashed referees and assistants before now, but credit where credit's due to Hairy (nicknames now!) and his friends.
Anyway, "We only need ten men, we only need ten men!".

Neil Hair has been promoted to the Football League too,so we'll probably see him again. We won 4 out of the 5 games we had him for last season-all away.

He could also have given them a pen late on when Hughes kicked Shakes' foot rather than the ball in the six yard box, the one where the ball then bounced off Jeff's head into Davies' hands (OK, a cushion-header)! An unusual incident but very similar to a penalty that was given in the PL quite recently, think it involved Man City.

Overall I thought Hair did well though admittedly I almost lost it when he gave Wood that free kick right at the end, in the fourth minute of three minutes injury time.
