Before launching into the collection of words and letters that masquerades as a preview, I just wanted to say thank you for tolerating me this season. It really has been a pleasure and I have enjoyed every minute of it.

As Thursday evening draws to a close, we really are staring down the barrel of Wembley now and all it’s excitement, nerves and jeopardy. Some of the outlying members of the Super White Army have already embarked upon their journey to the capital, with the rest of us joining in over the next day or so.

It’s inevitable that minds cast back to May 2017 as we are only human and it is impossible to forget that day. Whether all the chatter about being better prepared or learning from the defeat will remain to be seen because it really does depend on the day.

I don’t even think it’s worth analysing the respective strengths of each team either because it’s all about who turns up on the day.

It was nice to watch some of the pre-match interviews and to see how relaxed and happy Mickey was. There was a lot of smiles and laughter which hopefully bodes well for the game and is an indicator of the mood in the camp.

Jeff Hughes was interviewed as well and I was starting to get a bit emotional listening to him. He spoke very well about the play offs, our opponents and our chances but also about his sadness at leaving the club. Jeff has been a great player for us, bringing a touch of glass to our midfield and a win at Wembley would be a great way to finish.

We have all invested plenty of emotional energy during our stay in the
National League, and it’s high time for the super white army to shed a few tears of joy followed by a summer of expectation instead of trepidation.

I really don’t know how to finish this apart from saying I really hope to be writing this in League 2 next year.

See you all there.

Been a roller-coaster season. Looked like national league north at times, best team by far on occasion and everything between. I've been up early listening to every game, depressed, happy, confused, etc. Glad to have been a part of it, I think we are going up on Saturday. Safe journey to everyone, make it back for work on Monday!

It's starting to affect my sleep now. Can't wait, but also the nerves are starting to jangle. I've been predicting a win, but starting to reconcile myself with the thought that it's not the end of the world if we don't win; try telling me that after the game tomorrow and I'll tell you it is! Anyway, I've binned my lucky underpants from last year's final and a fresh pair await to be adorned tomorrow morning; how long they stay fresh is another question! Let's hope it doesn't come to that and this place is full of clean underpants and drunken, incoherent, celebratory posts!!
Come on you whites!

Thank you for your work this season Kenny.

I’m guttted I can’t be there on Saturday, I’m sending my little lad off with my parents to watch the occasion.

We need to win tomorrow, to get away from pet projects like Borham Wood and Ebbsfleet. The money on offer in non league football is silly, and we need to get away from it into the structure of the league.

I’ve got everything crossed for the players, I hope you guys traveling have something to celebrate.

This while thread has just started my nerves!

What's made it worse is that I could only get the 18:33 train back to Liverpool...no extra time.

I think we can do this and there will never be a better chance, we owe BW penance!

Yes ,well done kenny-crons done really well indeed .well here we go and boosted by the fact Buxton and Connor Jennings are fit to play ,but I have a good feeling about tomorrow ,a different feel from last year ,the players are up for it .you could see against Ebbsfeet ,if they had not been we would have lost it to A very capable team .its going to be very tough against a very big side .if we hoof it we could lose out ,keep on the floor with speed should do it ,not amused can’t go had a set back with new knee but will be hiding behind the couch again .will be fit again for new season hopefully in League 2. I am also feeling very very nervous. We have the players and CJ being fit is a massive bonus but we cannot afford any individual mistakes and we need to take our chances. Simple I know but if we do that we will be ok. If not we will be in this godforsaken league for another year. I have confidence the players can do it but MM needs not be overly cautious for this also in case we start badly. He needs to have options in the bench so yes he has staked his reputation on Ridelagh rather than Clarke to start but he needs to be on the bench imo.
Here's to a great result tomorrow. I will have everything crossed !!

Great that Connor is fit but wouldn't put him straight in to the starting line up for the same reasons you wouldn't put Lazarus straight into the Bethany team to face Nazareth after being raised from the dead a week before.

Stick with Cole and Ginnelly. Josh looked very good against Ebbsfleet and it seems like he wants to make a name for himself on the big days.

Buxton back and fully fit would be fantastic but Manny Monthe looked capable when he came on last week and a serious left foot on him.

Just waiting for my shirt to go through the washing machine cycle then hang it up to dry and off to bed.

That was one hell of a game, my heart sunk deeper than the Mersey tunnel when Rides went off. You have to admire both the physical and mental strength of the players today and also MM who we rightly had faith in, who tactically got it 100% spot on, to a man they were outstanding, can't pick a MOM.

Cracking result and couldn't ask for more considering the team were down to 10 men. Ridehalgh was a fool, but given he is currently the longest serving Tranmere player, barring Kirby, who has also played in league 1 for the club, his desire for the club to get back where it had a chance of being, was probably a different kind to some, but he was fortunate it didn't cost Tranmere the result.

Tranmere didn't deserve to be in the league the past 3 years on merit, not on bad luck, or owners hogtying managers on player recruitment, but now they do deserve to be back in the league and they have a good shout at making the top 3-7 I think, with the nucleus of the team intact and it will be easier to keep those players when they can earn a bit more in the coming weeks.

Mellon will have a hard task on his hands, because unless he signs Ginelly and Monthe, then there's two players guaranteed not to start next season, but he couldn't realistically use the remaining 9 that started the game and only recruit their replacements, plus 2-3 others to replace released backup players.

New recruits should be brought in with the potential to start the first game in league 2, as that is a strong recruitment mentality.

There will have to be some people playing today who are a bit disappointed in six months when they aren't a regular selection, but for Micky I would think it's a nice problem to have right now.

Certainly this is a very positive step and dovetails well with the work done off the pitch to build revenue and develop facilities.

Hopefully Tranmere can mount a serious challenge for the top 3 or playoffs, as most of the players playing today would be capable of making that happen and I could see Norwood and Cook potentially getting 35-40+ league goals next season.

It's going to be an interesting 3 months ahead, but some teams in the past have done consecutives promotion from NL league to league 1, so why can't Tranmere?

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

I have been to far more football games than I can remember but I have NEVER been so emotionally hung, drawn and quartered and then end up on the winning side as that game.

OK so we are Tranmere and we need to beat this side to get back to the FL... how can we make it harder... let's have a player sent off after 40 seconds.

Oh... and let's make all three subs before half-time whilst we are at it and bring on a lad who has just been hospitalised with meningitis last week.

...and then we went and fecking won it!

This is Tranmere Rovers... apart from the fact we still actually won it!

Fabulous effort by all the players (aside from Rides obviously). McNulty was class throughout and kept them going. Monthe was superb also - looked like he played at Wembley every week! Clarke also came on and did a great job having no doubt expected to sit on the bench for 90 minutes.
After 1 minute I was in despair and cursing another Tranmere failure in a crunch game. That performance after that was quite simply immense.
No doubt it will fully sink in later but that win was absolutely critical as the NL was only going to get harder and harder to get out of. I am so so proud today of my club!

What a performance! After Rides dismissal, and their injury over overtime goal, I sat with my head in my hands thinking, oh no, not again. The second half started slowly but around the hour mark, something almost spiritual happened. The fans started to believe, I mean really believe rather than simply blindly hoping against hope. They lifted the team who having already played for an hour with 10 men and having been reorganised due to the dismissal, injury and tactics, responded magnificently. Their collective will to win and strive for victory was something very special. I remember thinking after about 80 minutes that even if we go on to lose, I can have no complaints, given the players application and astonishing work rate. And then, a minute later.....Jenno, recently out of his hospital bed, curled his cross across the box and time slowed. It was directed to an unmarked Nors in the box. Should he, could he, would he? Rising to meet the ball, he met it perfectly and angled the ball down to the keepers right. He got a hand on it and for one brief moment, he looked to have possibly turned it round the post but.....cue wild ecstatic celebrations from the SWA, the ball nestled in the corner of the net. What a moment. A paroxysm of uncontrolled unbridled joy descended on all the Rovers adherents. The next 10 minutes are a bit of a blur to be honest as we, team and fans united as one, trod those last few hard yards on our road back to where we belong, the Football League. The celebrations at the end were as emotionally charged as they were deserved. The team had done it. The fans had done it. Micky Mellon had done it. Mark Palios had done it and all involved in the Tranmere set up had done it. For those of you who witnessed this momentous day in our club's history, it will always be so very very special. To be a Rovers fan yesterday made me feel very proud indeed. WE DID IT!!!

Great performance. Due to the incompetence of Wembley (is any venue such a rip-off and so badly run?) it took ages to get my ticket and then nearly 20 minutes of holding the ticket, queuing to get in and, when I finally got to my seat, we were just down to 10 men. Sinking feeling. Then we scored. Hopeful feeling. Then they scored in the second hour of added time. Sinking feeling again. Then we scored and hung on. Indescribable feeling. The players all did us proud yesterday. What a great effort when everything seemed set to go against us.

Have to agree about Wembley. Despite an amazing game felt Wembley as a set up had gone backwards from last year. Inside the stadium facilities soulless and expensive .Outside not even a fan zone. It feels like a place designed to suck punters into an over priced retail outlet.Endless concrete construction to squeeze out money with not attempt to create any outside the stadium environment.
It takes nothing away now from yesterday but nor does yesterday disguise the cynical nature of the misnamed national stadium that represents all that is bad with our football authorities and our rip off the ordinary person values of society

Still so emotional - standing at the back of the stand with my brother (56 years a Rover), his two daughters and my daughter Hannah who arrived with a huge hand-painted poster; Time to admit it: I lost the faith at the beginning of this season when things seemed to be falling apart; I lost the faith at half-time yesterday, when any sane pundit would say we had lost the game. When I crept back in after a prolonged wait in the concourse plucking up courage, it was unreal: McNulty my hero for just keeping the shape - what a leader - He "led from the word go, even with all that was going on around him he didn’t flinch". And, in those last eight or so minutes, when we were praying that the match would end, I lost it: fifty years a Rover, and I broke up. Through all the Yardley years; the Aldo years, the championship playoffs, the cup runs (remember Villa?), League Cup final, I have never experienced emotion like that. Never, ever lose the faith again, Docker ... those players yesterday didn't. SUPER White Army!

The players were so confident.Lets hope the camaraderie will convince the likes of Cookie to stay.I get the feeling Nors is proud to represent Tranmere and almost seems that he is from here

Wembley has regained its soul!!!!! I'm partially r-soul-ed and will now finish the job! To every man wearing a white shirt on that pitch today, I salute you, you magnificent beasts!! Grown men crying, but for the right reasons. How can you go through so many emotions in one game; we keep saying it, but we always do it the hard way! HKR, glad you were there! Unbelievably, my wife even watched the game on the telly at home and told me she was shouting at the tv, caught up in the emotion; I could be falling in love with that woman again!! In fact, WTF, I love you all!! (Sm128)

thks phil, what a fantastic and momentous day. am so pleased I got back for it, would have regretted it big time if hadn't gotten back.

I’m looking forward to getting the DVD of this match and watching every aspect of it.
For me, I had to make do with updates via text message from the missus.

Couldn’t be any prouder of the club though. Beaming from ear to ear with pride.

me too andy, waiting for the DVD to come out.

One of the best if not THE best team performance I have ever seen from us in view of everything that seemed to conspire against us.Heroes-all of them.

+ 1 heroes every single one of them.

Did Aldridge me any comment about the win?
