Sutton and shots won though. There are rumours waddock is leaving aldershot for a league club

One disappointment followed by another. We seem to be back to treading water. One point off two teams who were in the bottom half of the table isn't going to win this league.
Wasn't at the game today but sounded like Norwood had opportunities to score and didn't.
We definitely miss the width and pace of DMH. With DMH and Banks in the team we had a glimpse of what it would take to survive in League Two. Now its back to Micky shuffling the pack and my optimism is dented.

I went today, and unless we get midlfield reinforcements we are going nowhere.

Hoping for a win but happy with a draw against an improving Barrow.

1-1 sounded like Jennings had a chance right at the death. seems as if we had enough chances to have won it. Macc only got a draw.

That was because we changed to 3-4-3 to try and snatch the win - risky but it could have worked.

Yes he did. But the worrying thing is that hardly anyone else did.Apart from a Sutton header and a Cole blaze over the bar, nobody else looked remotely like scoring.

Whilst I agree that we lack a wide player Mekki overall contribution was never impressive. It was not releasing him that was wrong but failing to replace with better. That hols true in other positions and the return of loan players serves only as a reminder of how badly we recruited in the summer.
The failure to bring on Gumbs is also indicative of a tendency to go for the inadequate but experienced. The return of those we have loaned out only takes the squad backwards
Quote:Correct - there is no ethos as you say unless to sign experienced players found wanting. MM recruitment has been awful consider - Dawson (yes he signed him!), Mangan, Alabi, Waring, McEverley, Green, Cole, Rokka and I would include Wallace who was always a very risky gamble. Worse some were signed on 2 year contracts for heaven's sake so we will forking out money we don't have next season as well which already puts us at a disadvantage whatever League we are in. Ok bring in one "shop in potential" signing which may not pan out but that should be it. The others should deliver and they patently didn't so MP has been forced to find money to allow MM into the loan market wasting even more money to try and prop up these bad decisions.HiggosbootsQuote:The constant summer in and outs and loanees are what got us to the NL in the first place unless we change that we won't get out. Meanwhile he ignores our young homegrown players like the plague unless forced into it as even Clarke who arguably also had a fair bit to do with our purple patch would never have been given a start IMO if Ridelagh had stayed fit.

The likes of Banks were outtheir I think the summer and it makes me wonder that we only find the likes of him and Dmh by chance as opposed to identifying them. Clubs survived e much higher up the league pyramid than us on smaller budgets and that's because they have an ethos and they know what they are looking for.

I hope the experiments with lower league players have been knocked on the head, we've signed 3 now and none have worked out.
Quote:Correct you have to assume that MM is responsible for signing players which I do. I doubt MP who is a successful business man would have the time or the inclination to be involved in scouting players plus MM has brought in several players he knew well from previous positions such as Mangan. Either way for next season it needs to be someone else.HiggosbootsQuote:ADDQuote:Correct - there is no ethos as you say unless to sign experienced players found wanting. That assumes that MM is responsible for signing players, which none of us actually know, and as I understand it MM isn't responsible for signings at the club which would be backed up by the signing of Almond in between managers. Apparently MM and MP have had talks over this earlier in the season due to our poor form where MM requested to sign players of his choice leading to the arrival of DMH and Banks.

Same here. Judging from the highlights alone, it would appear that MM is justified in saying it was a pretty one - sided game and we should be disappointed in not finishing the multitude of chances created.

Shame Nors didn't take that first chance on his left foot. Always back him to score on his left. But like all great strikers kept going and was rewarded with a goal at the end

+1
Maybe he should try using his left foot more in those situations

There is a art to finishing one on one's. Norwood just does not have it but his all round game is very good. I'm sure with a good coach he could be shown. Does anyone know do we have coach for the forwards?. With the likes of Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler, John Aldridge on our door step could we not get one in for a few weeks and try work with him.
