Closing the gap
23 December, 2017 16:57
We are 8 pts away from top spot and we have a game in hand on pretty much most of the teams above us. A GREAT DAY, we win and all the teams above us in the table dropped points today, GET IN. None of the top 8 won today..

I notice Leyton Orient have turned a corner under their new manager. They may take a few points off those near the top. Not Tranmere though ;o) the next three games will give a better view of how easy catching up top spot will be. I am more optimistic of narrowing the gap further.than I was 6 games ago. Time will tell.

Obviously, the gap narrowing can only be a good thing for us but, although it was a very good result today, looking at the performance, I still think that, despite our work rate, we really need more vision and creativity if we're going to aim for top spot. Wallace and Tollit could provide that, in theory. Whether they can in practice remains to be seen. Let's hope so.

I think that on January 2nd, we’ll be 4 points off the top with a game in hand.

Game on boys!

That was possibly the hardest of the festive period games and it is not beyond wit that we could get a maximum return. I would like to see harris at least on the bench as some games could need his ability to man mark and that was missing from yesterdays bench.

A full return from the next 3 games and we are back in to being a contender. We are fortunate that no team has looked either exceptional or consistent this year and that is reflected in the goal differences as much as the points. Much depends on which of the lon players remain and the extent to which Tollit makes a full recovery but we are at the stage of the season where our relatively large squad could give advantage.

The niggle is that despite optimism I still feel that we are far from the best we were last season

LO are at home to Bromley and Dagenham for next two games. I can see them winning or drawing both which helps Tranmere if they win their two games.
