Next up: Dagenham and Redbridge (H)
10 November, 2017 22:40
There was a brilliant video posted by our very own Deadly on his twitter feed this week that showcased our most memorable matches. To say it made the hairs on my neck stand up is a huge understatement and it is definitely worth watching for Rovers fans of all ages. It's more than just a feel good movie though as it highlighted a key ingredient in our play that probably passed us by at the time because we just thought we were brilliant back in the day. That key ingredient is speed.

That speed wasn't just Chris Malkin running fast or the blur of Ian Nolan over-lapping and smashing one in against Aston Villa. It also includes the speed of our attacking play with Nick Henry's goal against Bolton being a great example. And I think that speed has come back into the 2017 team.

The current squad is starting to feel well balanced, there is competition for places and we seem to moving the ball forward a lot more quickly than earlier in the season. I think there is also a bit of a 'buzz' returning as it feels like we have turned the corner a bit in recent weeks. And even though we should only worry about ourselves, I have to say that Wrexham offered so little against Chester on Wednesday on Adam Virgo TV that we should have no fears of any teams above us.

That's not to say that we should be blasé about our opponents. Indeed, Dagenham and Redbridge were considered one of the better sides who came to PP last season, so tomorrow's game will be a good test. But if The Daggers come to play (as they usually do) it may work in our favour and allow us to continue in our current, free flowing style.

My Tranmere mojo has returned then and I am looking forward to games again instead of being filled with trepidation. I might be clutching at straws a bit and accusations of giddiness could be perfectly valid. But with the returning injured players allied with well performing signings, I don't think I have pressed the giddy button too much.

Can we hope for a few more memorable games this season then? I think you know what I think.

The deadly submarine on twitter isn’t the deadly submarine from here, he’s an imposter lol

I’m full of confidence again (so we’ll probably lose) so I’ll go for a 2-0

This lot played us off the park here last season imo. Having already lost to 3 of the current top 4 at Prenton Park Mellon's woeful record against the top sides continues.
I'm not one who thinks we've turned a corner yet but I can see improvement attacking wise with the impact Dylan has made. so I'm going for a score draw

I think we're in better shape now that Mellon has strengthened the wide options.

DMH and Cole have shown this over the last few games, and Green looks to be a decent player with pace and goals in his locker.

As long as they have worked on their finishing I expect us to win this one comfortably.

Kirby is back too and I'd like to see him get a run out in front of the home crowd.

According to Wirral Radios pundits, Cookie is rumoured to be moving to Lincoln when the window reopens, so we need to gear up for life without him if this is happening.

Maybe that's why he's dropped to the bench in recent weeks?

they've drawn 6 of their away games in the NL so far this season, so it appears that they are the away draw specialists. sounds like they will be all set up for a draw and a point to take back down south. am going for a 2-1 win for the Rovers in a tight contest.

Well done rovers ,something has suddenly clicked for the team , though I can't comment being unable to attend ,reading between the lines they appear to have what has been missing ,pace and speed which they have been crying out for .not having a go at him but I believe Norwood missed 3good chances second half ,I don't think he will improve, you either have it or you don't ,but he gets enough to be really vital to the team ,Reading an article in the Daily mail sports about non League players who could follow Vardy from non League to stardom and they picked out Alibi ,are we missing something ?..Chester still whining we have not paid for him ,yet he is sent out on loan to Dover .its a strange one I can't fathom .looking forward to Wednesday

Agree it was very sad to see away fans fighting amongst themselves at the end of the game, even the Daggers players were watching it in amazement, then one of the stewards fell down the stairs, a farcical end to a nice little home win.

He's got it.Just look at the one he DID score to see that. The 3 he missed weren't easy and he did the hard work for them mainly by himself with some assistance from others.

Great performance from everyone again today . Norwood covered every blade of grass , Motley-Henry is a joy to watch , McNulty solid at the back and although the substitution was forced I thought Harris was outstanding at right back . Either an inspired move by Mickey or a gamble that paid off big time . Let's keep the quick , attacking game going .

Also depends on the players involved. Ronnie lost two o a winning team and itwent t up. A bit of fine tuning and one or two new players with enthusiasm makes all the difference.

Great win today and soaked up the Dagenham pressure well even with x2 forced changes (hope all is well with them two?) ... Norwood has his mojo back and the new additions are really bonding well with the team. It’s great to watch us at the moment.

Really solid performance today. We seem to have sacrificed a bit of possession on order to push forward in greater numbers. Some really battling performances today and they all put a shift in.
Norwood outstanding again imo. our best and most consistent player for me.

Norwood is the most consistent right now and the win a is a great result. Another clean sheet and 14 points from the last 21, so the turnaround looks on now and 3 points off the playoffs.

Very satisfying performance today and topped off with complimentary access and a three course meal in the Platinum Suite; it doesn't get much better! I've been reading elsewhere how poor Dagenham were, but all credit must go to us as the renaissance of our cavalier style was too much for them. We beat a good team at this level and we were in control all over the park and looked comfortable in victory; we could well have won by four or five. Harris was a revelation at right back! Norwood looked dangerous and could well have had a hat-trick (I was sat two rows behind Palios and there was a noticeable shake of the head when Norwood missed one chance). That's not to discredit Norwood as he put in a great shift. I love the endeavour of Motley-Henry and Cole when he came on; the width, pace, flicks and tricks have really put a buzz back into Prenton Park. Ridehalgh's crosses were consistently better and dangerous today and we looked a team on a mission. The slow build-up was non-existent and the urgency to get the ball forward was much easier on the eye. The early goal really helped and any potential anxiety was starved of oxygen, giving way to a sense of satisfaction and optimism. It's pleasing we have a strong bench and the enforced substitutions had no detrimental effect. I'll be back to "slumming it" on Wednesday, but with a renewed vigour and smug satisfaction regardless of how Wednesday's result goes; for me it's a can't lose situation against Peterborough and I would even accept a positive performance and a defeat; I think we can win it though! The Halifax game and today's game have definitely been a throwback to the good old days of fortress Prenton Park! I'm going to dine out on our last three results for the rest of this week; "if you worry about the future and dwell on the past, you can't enjoy the present" - enjoy folks!!

Agree with the above posts and for me Jay Harris was outstanding coming on out of position. I don't remember him missing a tackle and he put some great balls forward. However I rate him highly as a midfielder so do not want to see him at RB for the rest of the season. But MOM for me today.

Good result against one of the top sides and at home too.
Maybe we are turning the corner but would believe if we took at least 4 points off Gateshead/Macc away next two matches.
I think with new year approaching it would be good to be within 3 points off top or better as MM still has to deal with the potential comings and goings/stayings in the January window.
The league is so tight that anyone from Fylde up is still in with a chance
With Mitch D maybe out I would like to have Gumbs back if not to start but being able to sub any of the defenders without losing shape although to Harris’s credit he slotted in

Sounded like a dominant performance. Things are coming together nicely.

I was critical of Mellon around 6 weeks ago, I said that it wasn’t working and something needed to change. The change happened in the form of 2 wingers. Well done to Mickey for finally sorting it.

As I side note, I liked this tweet from Wirral radio:

75 mins: James Norwood finds himself one on one....you know the rest....Rovers corner

Well that might be good thing for the club, nothing meant to you by that, but said sources should respect the hand that feeds if they are paid Palios employees, as paid employees letting this type of info go public, to me is a bit disrespectful to him and Nicola.

Airing dirty laundry in public is never good for the image of a person, parties or entities.
