We lost the Title as Lincoln beat us twice. So they are worthy winners. Simple as. Stats are near identical.

If Brabin had' ever been sacked before the start of the season we would have walked the League. The play-offs are a lottery but at least we have made them. As it stands we will be playing Aldershot, a team I don't want to play.

I would now use the next two games to get everybody firing ready for the three matches to come (hopefully).

Have you actually looked at the table? Our record is very good for a promotion chasing side. The fact is that Lincoln lost slightly fewer games than tranmere and over the season, in a head to head , they beat tranmere which basically accounts for the difference between the two teams.

For once look on the bright side. Tranmere is still in with a shout of promotion.

How that matt rhead is a professional football player i'll never know. Hauls hogan to the ground, then goes down as if he's been shot when Hogan touches him on his way up. Didnt see him once @#$%& about on the ground when they were losing, didnt see the keeper pretend to be injured again too. Shock. Dirty tactics will go far in this pub league but they won't go far with them next season.

They might also turn round games against Torquay and Gateshead last moments but no chance against teams like Luton, Wycombe etc. IF we do go up, convinced we'll finish above them next year, even if they do keep the Cowley's

Lincoln have the number one spot because they beat us twice,if we had managed to beat them twice we would have been Champions tonight.

It would take a miracle for Lincoln to get beat in the next three and for us to win the next two.Only not because we can't win the next two but can't see Lincoln failing to win any of the next three.

Just have to beat them next season in League Two instead.

We will probably finish with over 90 points
That's certainly good progress since last season

As regards Wallace I only listened to wirral radio today but as far as I could gather he had a decent second half which was surprising as with lack of match fitness I thought he would fade after a " mediocre " first half ... that's being polite

As for the play offs I remember being really upset after the Swindon home game in 1993
We played well and won 3-2 but as the above post said the damage was done in the away leg

I was also upset in 2005 after recovering a 2 goal deficit against Hartlepool

My fear with (I'm sure you would all agree) good reason, is a penalty shoot out .....

Thought we made hard work of that today. Had a good spell at the start of the second half, but looked leggy after the second goal/took our foot off the gas.

Pleased for Nors, always works hard for the team and thought he looked in danger of his head dropping a bit. Was some fat hairdo behind me giving him dogs abuse during the warm up, don't understand why you'd come to the match and then slate our own players like they're the opposition, especially within earshot, no need, the clue is in the word supporter. I'd sooner he'd stayed in the pound bakery and let some one else have the ticket that backs the team.

Ah well, another three points, pretty close to guaranteeing second place now. Was worth the trip for the pure comedy of the Guiseley ultras.

None of the missed penalties have cost us points. Goal difference would be better than Lincoln's if we had converted them all, but it's not likely to count for anything. One win and we are secure in second. So if we get that at the weekend we can rest players for the last weekend. No doubt Lincoln will collapse and give us an outside chance of winning the league in the last game so we won't get the chance to do that either!

To be quite honest,we played very well for the first half of the second half after a quite dreadful first half and then unaccountably sat back for the latter part of the second half allowing Guiseley who looked down and out after Cook's goal,to get back into the game.

To be fair to Guiseley, they played to their strengths in the first half and did well-a big strong long ball team with Rankine[taller and wider than McNulty]causing a few problems.Their goal was a cracking long distance strike but we allowed their player far too much space before he shot.

One funny moment after about half an hour was when the ref called''come here big man''and both Rankine and McNulty went up to him for a talking to. After this had finished and they moved back into position, one wag behind me said quite loudly ''two top class athletes!''

It is hard to say who were our best players. The back three did well. Vaughan was the outlet for quite a few of our attacks in the first hour but faded after that. I thought Wallace was the better of our two central midfielders although they were both slow. It was good to see Norwood and Cook together again and both scoring-Cole came on for the last quarter of an hour-was ok but no more.I was a bit disappointed with Dunn when he came on for Connor-he stayed in the middle rather than on the wing and didn't involve himself enough for my liking. But it was his first game for a long time[just like Maynard on Tuesday-where was he today?]-so we can't be too critical.

Scott Davies' handling was very good throughout and I don't think he even saw their goal as the lad hit it so well.Ridehalgh found plenty of space on the left-his crossing was a bit hit and miss.

But a good three points-I hope Guiseley as well as Solihull stay up-they play each other last match of the season.

We had our own fat bloke with long hair and with his shirt off today -his chest was looking very red and sore but he was continually banging the boards around the pitch and chanting songs which sounded ludicrous when we were 1-0 down and not playing at all well.

Pretty much spot on there Hoots, although I wasn't sharing your sentiments pre-match about them staying up after they wouldn't let the drummers in (miserable bar stewards)! The ale must be strong in Guiseley as there seemed to be more than the usual classy, inebriated individuals in the away end(perhaps I'm just a miserable bar steward). My son's day was made when he got a high five from Cook after his goal (I'll have nothing said against the man now!). I think we need to bear in mind that Guiseley are fighting for their lives which may have contributed to it not being a classic.

Also they are a big strong side [Rankine wasn't the only large specimen]who play long balls-not pretty but effective in the first half.

I can't agree with all this resting players now, they need to be sharp and match fit. I always fancied us for the auto spot but feared for us in the playoffs as our record is shocking against the top sides. We have to loose the sit back tenancy I feel to be successful through the playoffs.

Agree about Maynards last game but the difference is that we know that once match sharp he has a presence in midfield that cannot be matched by either Hughes or Wallace.Ofcourse it means being match fit and that is why I would have preferred Maynard to have had time on the pitch. There is the distinct danger that lack of opportunity to get sharp will result in two static midfielders who win few 50/50 balls being the only options. There was a time when Hughes was valued for his passing but that has been far from impressive in recent months.
It could be argued that each are experienced but Wallace has relatively few career games under his belt

Did not go to the game but the lads have commented once again about our sitting back and letting other teams back into the game .its been a fault all season and I think FGR are the king of late goals ,I think 20 in the last 10 mins including the one at PP .i also think IMPORT is a ok guy and does not deserve the abuse. it says more about the abuser than the abused .cut it out guys I think the guys on here are better than that . Lincoln won get over it

It's a Tranmere forum mate, of course anyone is welcome, but if a Lincoln supporter chooses to put himself in the lions den, then he's obviously up for the craic. You are of course entitled to your opinion, but telling people to "cut it out" is ridiculous, you are not the self appointed administration.

I tend to agree, before it was light hearted banter, and quiet enjoyable.

Now he's just provoking us that they've won the league.

Well it isn't over yet. I would love it, love it if they lost their last 3 matches. We could take the title and go gloating on their forum!!

The pub near the station was good although I wasn't impressed by the fish and chip shop in Victoria Rd that there was a billboard advertising on the main road. I fancied a pie after the game and they unbelievably don't sell them.

Of course they sell pies; it's just that Rankine had eaten all of them! He made McNulty look like weight watchers slimmer of the year. Rankine surprisingly turned our defense on a couple of occasions even with the turning circle of an articulated truck.

Yes I thought Hughesy was a great signing but it all seems to have now fallen flat. Maynard is best in a back 5 role but has to get himself match fit and up to pace by the time of the play offs. None of Hughes, Maynard (nightmares of that crucial miss at Lincoln) or Wallace are capable of scoring. Connor Jennings is our only stand out midfielder at the moment. Sousa and Collins with their pace, or as someone else has suggested, dropping the "hard working" Norwood back into midfield as he is certainly not scoring enough goals as a forward.

Midfield pecking order for the play-offs? In decreasing order, based on current fitness workrate: Connor, Duggan, Wallace, Sousa, Collins, Norwood, Dunn, Maynard, Hughes, Jenno

I don't go on the oppo's forums rubbing it in when they have a bit of bad news. Yes, I am better than that. I'd rather cheer here than bother to find out where they post and have a pop.

As for Import it looks like self-abuse is a bigger problem than anything he gets on here.

Worst pie I ever had was in yorkshire at halifax's ground over 30 yrs ago now.. the pastry was rock hard and I could actually lift off the top of the pie, without it crumbling in my hands, to view the contents. Not the slightest hint at any gravy and two pathetic lumps of cold potato and a shrivelled up piece of meat... I still ate the damn thing..remember it well. Lol.

I wouldn't mind a trip to Kidderminster again; nice place to visit and compared to Guiseley's ground, it was like Wembley. Hopefully they'll get a couple of promotions before we go there again!
