Extremely disappointed with is, what looked a shrewed signing has been an embarrassment. The sooner we get rid of Kirby to the better.

It is unreasonable to compare Kirby with Sodje. The former is a youmg player still developing. It is questionable whether he is first team material yet, but there is nothing wrong with his attitude

I hope the players never read some of this@#$%&posted on this site. Kirby is a young player doing his best. If we had a bigger squad he would not be in the starting eleven. Lambasting players at this stage of the season is bloody ridiculous. We should all be behind who ever plays and show our support. If we get relegated 'Whyallways me' you will then have a team of Kirbys to moan about and slag off. Grow up man, support your team who ever plays. Oh by the way I'm not crying!

Sparkypow - You seem to be forgetting this is the internet, so if we had a bigger squad people would be moaning that we're bringing players in rather than using the likes of Kirby.

The argument is usually if a youngster isn't playing they should be, and if they are playing they shouldn't be. Follow that simple rule and you can fit into any internet discussion about any player, at any club, who is under 23.

Sodje was not a mistake at the time, but in hindsight now he is.

However this is what he did since Augyst 2012 prior to signing for Tranmere.

Preston North End, 14 games, 4 goals

Scunthorpe United, 16 games, 6 goals

The latter is a very good return considering it was for a relegated team, not a form side, but even form sides probably wouldn't feel massively underwhelmed about a 2.66 goals a game player. I don't know how many assists he had last season however.

Sodje had experience and some credible goal scoring ability from last season and if Ronnie had just brought in some kid from the top 2 divisions, with no league one experience and potentially not even any experience of even one game where it's tackling allowed, he'd have been lambasted by people begging him to bring in experience.

I think some managers at this level spending a few quid and coppers each year, might have sees Sodje's previous from last season as interesting, to the point where they'd have considered trialling him.

Barring Lowe who was a lucky signing, Sodje represented the experience and goal scoring potential for cheap wages, Tranmere have to aim for each year, because nearly all 15-20+ goal a season league one players, don't play for £2,000 a week or less these days, like they might have done 10 years ago.

I'm sure people would like Ronnie Moore to have spent £2,500 - £4,000, possibly more, bringing in someone like Will Hoskins on loan and getting a proven 20 goal a season league one player, but it wasn't financially viable.

Sodje now represents the past, so it's time to move on and focus on the future.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

He's not the only one who represents the past. We did not need his type of player.

Ryan Lowe was not a lucky signing. Signing him wasa no brainer. Didn't take a shrewd manager to see he had goals in him. He'd been top of my wanted list for the last 3 seasons. The only lucky part was the fact he wanted to be close to his family. That's the only reason he came to Tranmere.

Praising RM for signing Lowe would be like praising Fergie for singing Van persie.

Fact is Sodje/Foster/Horwood/Rowe/and got knows how many loans have been very poor signings and cost us this season.

I'd argue Rowe hasn't been given a fair chance tbf to him.

one of Jeremy's comments was how we need to make sure when we recruit now we make sure we get the right players/staff as we can't afford the mistakes....

I know because of the poor signings PJ has had to increase the budget a few times this season for loans to try and help the manager out.

I meant lucky in that a team like Preston, Bradford or possibly Rotherham didn't try to sign him, or not that I'm aware of. Preston and Bradford would be less than 90 minutes drive away from Merseyside and have bigger budgets and depending on the distance Rotherham might have interested Lowe, if they had made an approach.

Tranmere were a bit lucky that he chose to leave MK for personal reasons, as the loan deal they wanted last season didn't happen and may well not have happened if he were still there now.

He's a brilliant player and has done well, and I believed he would from the get go, despite some failing to believe he was still a form player and making out in some cases, that his Bradford goal was a flash of brilliance, from someone showing glimpses of who he no longer was.

The truth is though if anyone thinks this could be a more long-term reality, to get form strikers at low cost, then it's won't be until a rich man takes over, even if the club could offer the next guy another £2,000-£3,000 a week from the new financial initiatives, it would still be unlikely.
