Pre-season starts on Fridy 5 July

And how is our transfer business for the 2019/20 season?

Great start isn't it with the same-old same-old brilliant defensive line-up and a half-decent midfield in need of great coaching.
Instead of buying, was Unai Emery told to promote Chambers and Bielik, with Holding and Bellerin returning by October/November into squad?

and we are keeping ...
1 - Koscielny
2 - Sokratis
3 - Mustafi
4 - Manosprano
5 - Monreal
6 - Holding
7 - Bielik
8 - Chambers
9 - Medley - promoted
10- Ballard - promoted

That is, keeping existing squad and up to Emery to coach them into a compact unit.

A Top-4 Team needs 4 great forwards - and we have two in Aubameyang and Lacazette.

A top-4 will play 60+ games per season and reaching quarter-finals and some semi-finals in cup competitions.
Who is our 3rd and 4th striker now?

It will be upsetting when Emery indulges - or force to - panicky buys during 8 days of August without pre-season training to shape the squad that he wanted to play EmeryBall.

I'm not so pessimistic as you on this.

So far we have offloaded Cech, Ospina, Lichsteiner, Pleguezuelo, Bramall, Gilmour, Ramsey, Wellbeck, Suarez (all good except Ramsey)

It seems we are trying to offload Jenkinson, Mustafi, Mikhtaryan & Ozil (but the problem being for the last 3 that nobody wants or can afford them). I'd like us to sell off Elneny too but he hasn't been mentioned in any of the transfer rumours to date.

And we have brought in Martinelli for the future.

We seem serious about trying to recruit Tierney (who could be a very good buy, and which would allow us to offload Monreal or Kolasinac).

We seem to be trying hard to bring in a winger (Zaha or Vazquez or Brahimi).

That leaves the key question of a high quality central defender as the top priority.

And perhaps another box to box midfielder to replace Ramsey though we do have quite a few youngsters in midfield coming through.

If we get Tierney, a good winger and a good central defender and offload a few more squat players, I'll be happy.

I had given up on Arsenal FC being ever competitive as Top-4 team.

Interestingly Matt Macey was pictured with the first team.

His loan spell to Plymouth last season was pretty bad and I was expecting him to be off. He could still leave, but as he is home grown he might be retained as third choice keeper.

It will probably be either him or Dejan Iliev, unless we bring someone else in.

Jenkinson, Chambers, Smith-Rowe, Saka, and Martinelli were all in training, along with the likes of Mustafi, Monreal, Maitland-Niles, Ozil, Lacazette and Aubameyang.

Ljungberg was coaching as well.
