£15m Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope?
Worth a punt as our No.2 or No. 3?
Doubt he will want to come if he wishes to play regular football.

Can't spend 15mn on GK if are going to spend only 40mn overall. Promote martinez, crash or if cups early and have a go at 4th place next season

A decent backup keeper is essential these days. If we went into the season with Martinez as our number 2 and Leno got a serious injury we would be well and truly f.ucked.

Say what you want about Cech not being good enough for the no.1 jersey anymore (which he isn't) but he's a decent number 2 all the same. Where as Martinez isn't anywhere near good enough for the PL or CL should we get there.

well, Cech will retire so we need a decent number 2.
My take is don't buy English keepers as they are way overpriced and not good enough. When the poor Pickford is England's number one, it tells you all you need to know.

Gone are the days of exceptional, dependable British keepers like Banks, Shilton, Seaman, Southall even Flowers and Woods.

Reckon our European scouts can find someone good.

I'm not suggesting martinez as the first option. I agree about Cech. I also think he has better flight judgment against physical teams the leno but of course is past it otherwise. I just saying we cannot spend 15 on the back up if we paid 22 for the first choice. We need to find more cost effective alternatives. Assuming the 40mn budget which is @#$%& in itself

It matters not who your GK is unless you have a solid defensive unit in front of him Chesney and Fabianski have done well since leaving us yet they looked poor behind our shambolic defenders

A lot of truth in that, it can't help when you don't know what cock up the defence will do next.

According to the Star (!) we are after Valencia keeper Murara - but he will only come if we are in the Champions League next season: [www.dailystar.co.uk]

A lot of players will feel like this. We have to beat Chelsea and get back in the CL.
