Player Ratings vs. Newcastle

Leno - 6. Spectator.

Mustafi - 6. Okay for the most part but also looked like Newcastle's best chance of getting something from the game, either by diving in for a reckless tackle or with a loose/ under hit pass.
Sokratis - 7. Had a battle on his hands with Rondon but he came out on top.
Monreal - 7. Good performance, particularly later on. Harshly booked.

Maitland-Niles - 7. Always involved up and down the right, particularly in the first half.
Guendouzi - 7. Passed the ball very well. Don't know how he didn't get booked in the first half.
Ramsey - 9. Scored one, had one disallowed, ran tirelessly and defended well. Immense.
Kolasinac - 6. Was his usual self up and down the left throughout. His limited ability on the ball was evident as he could've had a number of assists.

Ozil - 8. He could win Emery's favour if he plauys like that consistently. Retained possession, worked hard and passed well.
Lacazette - 8. Did very well tonight. Looked sharp, pushed Newcastle's defenders all the way, had one blocked on the line spectacularly and eventually took his goal very well.
Iwobi - 6. Moved and linked up well but was pretty quiet overall.

Aubameyang - 6. Lively cameo as he assisted the second.
Elneny - 6. Passed well.
Mkhitaryan - 5. Didn't get into the game.

We took a while to get going but once we did we played some good stuff. Watching us tonight you can see how good we could be with a couple of quality additions.

A routine victory in the end.

We're up to third and have the best run in of all the sides challenging for a top four place. It is in our hands.

Ramsey was superb tonight, as he has been since returning to the side. We will need to sign a CM in the summer.

EDIT: Upped Guendouzi to 7 as think 6 is very harsh on reflection.

10th home win in a row, not done since 97-98 season.

- until Wenger moves on, they'll always be the also-rans in the major competitions. A club in elite purgatory. Always good enough to make it to the big race, never fast or smart enough to push over the finish line in first place. That's all about the manager. Until he changes, Arsenal fans will continue to celebrate glorious failure.

Good ratings Matty.

Muset was my MOTM. Arron was great, but fluffed a few passes early on.

Ozil was immense.

5 crosses – most in match
2 chances created – joint-most
33 touches
63 successful passes
12 ball recoveries
10 km distance covered.

Getting back to his best at the right time of the season.

Cheers pal.

Given the previous two seasons I genuinely don't think anyone thought there was a chance we could be in the driving seat to finish 3rd with 7 games to go. We have the "easiest" run in but we will need to be better away from home.

Chance to make a big statement on Sunday with a victory over Everton. I'm going to Wembley for the FA Cup Semi-final but hoping I'll be able to catch it in a pub or something.

Don't trust the stats. According to stats mustafi lead every defensive category, by doubling Socrates tackles interceptions and clearances.

How is Ramsey not motm after scoring 2 goals (first one was a good goal imo). Sure she sloppy passes but who cares he makes a meaningful impact.

Or laca even with a goal and some great stats to compare to

I thought Mustafi performed really well defensively yesterday. He made quite a number of great interceptions and was solid throughout. Much better decision making, although fluffed his crosses. Still, his main job is defense which he did well yesterday.

The midfield shape and balance I thought was great throughout. Still think Ozil wasn't on form although its one of his better games.
