Match against Newcastle - Hubris goes before a fall?

All this talk of a win against Newcastle at home is hubris with an astute Benitez knowing how to park a bus and with his vast tactical knowledge can easily outwitted Emery.

Newcastle is running into form with a settled side and have the players to hurt us during counter-attacks which Benitez and every EPL manager knew we are that vulnerable to quick counter-attack with our high defensive line and a midfield with no bite.

Expect Benitez to play 4-6-0 and patiently waiting for dead-ball situations and one or two howlers from our Defence as an expected average per game.

With both Lacazette and Aubameyang so profligate in front of goal with a conversion ratio of one shot on target for every 5 attempts at goal, we can lose this game if our strikers and midfielders do not take their chances to score early in the game.

We will lose if Newcastle should score first as Benitez is an expert in parking the Bus to frustrate Arsenal with both wasteful strikers and impotent goal-scorer from midfielders.

This means we need lots of can-openers in Ozil, Mkhitaryan and Iwobi to tear Newcastle 4-6-0 team apart. this means Lacazette is a better lone striker than Auba in his link-up plays, ability to hold the ball to play in an Arsenal player and not frighten to go in for every 50:50 ball in the box, rather than skip aside like a wimp of an Auba.

Then, 3-4-3 is the best formation with attacking wingbacks and a quick Back-3 to close off counter-attacks down the middle. We will need both Kolasinac and Maitland-Niles to put in a shift going box-to-box to stretch Newcastle defence as well as to close down their wing plays.

….. ….. ….. ….. ….. Leno

….. Sokratis … Koscielny … Monreal

… Maitland-Niles … Ramsey … Xhaka … Kolasinac

….. ….. ….. ….. ….. Ozil

….. ….. Mkhitaryan … Lacazette

3 no. CB and 2 no. wingbacks should give us solidity in defence with Ramsey going box-to-box to help out and Xhaka controlling the tempo and operating behind Ramsey.
This is basing on the expectation that Benitez will setup his team to defence all the time in their half and only counter-attack us with Route 101 Football out of defence and hoping to win freekicks around our box and corners to score against us.

If it is still stalemate after 70 minutes, Emery still has the option to bring in Aubameyang and Iwobi.

Perhaps, instead of Ozil, Emery may decided to gamble with Dennis Suarez who is a dribbler, playmaker and willing to go box-to-box to put in a defensive shift better than Ozil.

I should think so it was a three ban,and I think he has served one so far

- until Wenger moves on, they'll always be the also-rans in the major competitions. A club in elite purgatory. Always good enough to make it to the big race, never fast or smart enough to push over the finish line in first place. That's all about the manager. Until he changes, Arsenal fans will continue to celebrate glorious failure.

If Suarez should start, it would be interesting to watch how he would fare against Almiron.

If Totts lose and we win, we go third, come on, we can win this.

We need to continue playing offensive and not fall back to playing two holding/defensive mid-fielders.

The two upfront/Abu wide creates attack and puts the other team on the defensive, so we need to continue it.

Obviously its one game at a time and the focus should be on third/fourth, the Uefa Cup is a risk, since one bad game and your out.

I for one want the youngsters to get a look next season, so clear out the highly paid dead wood and give them a chance/look.
