Cech - 7. Quiet first half but made a good save in the second. Hope he gets to sign out on a high.

Mustafi - 7. Did well for the most part, but made nearly made a costly error at the start of the second half.
Koscielny - 8. He's in fine form at the moment.
Monreal - 8. Solid. No sign of Sarr tonight.

Maitland-Niles - 8. Better defensively and good going forward. Involved in the opener and scored the second.
Xhaka - 8. Disciplined. Passed well. Good performance.
Ramsey - 8. Set up the first and involved in the second. Ran tirelessly throughout.
Kolasinac - 8. Constant running up and down the left throughout. Better defensively as well. Set up the third.

Ozil - 6. Had moments but a mixed performance.

Aubameyang - 8. Got two goals and an assist. Missed two great chances to complete his hat trick late on.
Lacazette - 6. Lively without making a real impact. Lucky not to have been shown a second yellow.

Mkhtitaryan - 6. Lively. Involved in the third goal.
Iwobi - 6. Nearly scored after coming on. Lively.
Torreira - N/A. Not on long.

I'll admit I was feeling pretty down after the first leg but once I'd got that out of my system I was always confident we'd scored enough tonight, it was just a case of whether we could keep a clean sheet. Good, professional performance on the night. Never in any doubt!

Now for a two week international break and some warm weather training to help prepare us for a positive end to the season.

A bit on my MOTM last night, Ainsley Maitland-Niles:

49 touches
23/29 passes
5/6 tackles
4 ball recoveries
2 interceptions
1/2 long balls
1/2 dribbles
1 clearances
1 shot
1 goal

Although I am a fan, I don't mind admitting he can be a bit of a mixed bag. Versatile, composed, physical, but sometimes lacking in concentration. For me, last night seemed like a "coming of age" performance by AMN. One of, if not his best, this season. There was a spell around the our mark where Rennes were having a lot of the ball and we were getting a bit frantic, but he was so cool and composed, winning the ball back, etc. He made at least two more tackles than any other player on the pitch and scored his first Emirates goal.

I said previously on here that with a player like Bellerin it is a bit of a first choice goalkeeper/ Harry Kane-type situation. You're going to struggle to bring "serious" players in, because anyone we could realistically bring in knows in the end they will be second choice to him. With a number of areas in the squad needing investment, a cheap alternative could be to use players who are able to play right back, such as AMN and Chambers, in Bellerin's absence.

AMN has the rest of this season to audition for the role.

AMN has the technical skill and physical attributes to be a rock star on the team but he needs to improve his game concentration and up his energy level.

I don't think otherwise was a single part of me that didn't expect us to win this.

Nonetheless, great team performance.

Ramsey is showing the sort of form we will really miss

He doesn't play like this all the time though, I think leaving has given him a new lease of life.
