Team against Tony Totts - Mind the Gap

Beat Tiny Totts, we are one point behind them, and a decent chance to celebrate St. Totteringham Day this season.

After 8 months in the job, surely Emery will know his best team, his best formation and to out-thought Ponchettino now.

4-2-3-1 for me with Lacazette prefers over Auba.
Xhaka and Ramsey are rested for this weekend game.

Like against Chelski, man-marked Jorginho out of the game, we needed the energy of Ramsey to man-mark Eriksen out of the game.

We also need the pace of Jenkinson and Kolasinac to command the flanks against the runs of Son and Moura.
We need Iwobi on the left and Mkhitaryan on the right.
Jenkinson is an eye-opener against Bournemouth and we need him to ride shotgun over Mkhi, providing the steel and tracking back when Mkhi is driving forward, loses the ball and vulnerable to counter-attack down our right.

Lacazette is on-fire, and a better centre-forward than Aubameyang in holding the ball, turning with his back to goal and a predatory instinct inside the box.

To win this game, we need Xhaka to up his game as a regista to control the tempo of the game and set-up plays from a deep-lying position - perhaps like the Pirlo-Gattuso with Xhaka-Torreira.

..... ..... ..... ..... ..... .. Leno

... Jenkinson ... Sokratis ... Koscielny ... Kolasinac

..... ..... Torreira ..... ..... ..... Xhaka

... Mkhitaryan ..... Ramsey ..... Iwobi

..... ..... ..... ..... ... Lacazette

In the middle, an in-form Xhaka will over-run Wink-Dier with Torreira being his usual self, winning interception and instantly press the ball-carrier in the middle.

For the very first time this season, I am looking forward to a win rather nervously anticipation a whupping against Top4 team away from Emirates.

If Emery sticks to his promise to play high-tempo attacking football with high press, then he will need Mkhi and Ozil to set-up the tempo and forces Tiny Totts to deploy man-makrer to destroy Ozil, with Danny Rose keeping a wary eye on Mkhi.

A hard-running Iwobi will protect Ozil when defenders and midfielders got pass him.
Monreal is a better FB and he does not need to run so high so frequently like a wingback with both Ozil and Iwobi doing the damages at left flank.

For Mkhi and Ozil to be effective with their telepathic 1-2 passing and instinctively understanding each other movement, Iwobi's hard running and dribbling skill are the key to pin Tiny Totts back.

Right flank - Mkhi doing the damage;
Left flank - Iwobi doing the damage;
Ozil - a free role to roam from flank to flank to overload either one to setup plays and free up Arsenal players to run into gaps created by this trio.

Hence, Lacazette is ideal as the centre-forward with his hardness in holding off players, the ability to create a yard of space in a split-second to shoot at goal; and willing to dot he dirties to take out players to stop counter-attacks. Laca jumps in where Auba will skip off going for 50:50 ball in the box.

Sokratis is the "thou shall not pass" hardman; and Koscielny is regaining his match sharpness and hopefully his quickness off the mark now. With a dependable Sokratis, Koscielny needs not worry about an erratic Mustafi, who will commit 1 or 2 howlers per game.

He is definitely better than ASMN now with his quickness and willingness to run all-day box-to-box. We need his pace to cover Mkhi at right flank.

Xhaka-Torreira? We need them at tip-top condition to play like "Pirlo-Gattuso", playing in synchronicity to control and command the middle.
AT his best, Xhaka is a regista, dictating plays and tempo from deep, freeing Ozil, Mkhi and Iwobi to stay high up … and ideally, like Cryuff or Guardiola Barca, always playing a high-line squeezing plays within a 30 yard space in the centre to retain possession and starve Eriksen, Kane and Son of possession and service.

Let Tiny Totts battle it out middle third but never in our third.

And a fired-up Torreira will clean-up behind Xhaka with his quickness and fine reading of the game, anticipation passes and intercepting them; and the next instant, an accurate and quick pass to attacking trio to create counter-attacks.

If all the players are peaking now, getting a grip on Emerian Football, there is reason why we cannot beat Tiny Totts, who is in a mini-slump after losing against Burnley and a supposedly Kepa-crisis-hit-fragmented Chelski.
