He only just returned to training early this week

- until Wenger moves on, they'll always be the also-rans in the major competitions. A club in elite purgatory. Always good enough to make it to the big race, never fast or smart enough to push over the finish line in first place. That's all about the manager. Until he changes, Arsenal fans will continue to celebrate glorious failure.

We have to cut out the sloppiness. Guendouzi has the ball and blasts it into Zabaletta, then he lets it run for a throw in, get the ball and keep the pressure on, goal kick now from our throw in. Not good enough.

We're lacking something as well as more decent players. We don't seem to hae the urgency at the moment. AMN gives up on balls that he should be chasing down, we seem t be allowing players to run at us without challenging them..

I keep saying it but so many of the goals we conceded are down to individual mistakes by the same players. Xhaka, Mustafi and kolasinac make so many defensive errors it's unreal. We're not going to improve our defence until Xhaka and Mustafi are out of the team at least. Kolasinac at least offers us something going forward so fine to keep him as a wing back.

If ozil had created 4 or 5 decent chances in a game people would be saying he's the best number 10 in the world and we should ignore his lack of effort and all the of days he has. And other players would be blamed for failing to put away the chances he created.

If the owner can't afford to invest in the squad, honestly not a club worth supporting. Why would you spend money on a kit, when the club won't invest what they earn? I'll keep my money since they are keeping theirs.

Boycotts should be starting back up

Guendouzi was one of the worst players today along side AMN and mustafi. The reason he saw so much of the bank is because west ham didn't press him till he received the ball but always had men around Torreira and even xhaka while he was still playing.

I know most of the ppl on here won't agree with me, but guendouzi held on to the ball far too long and kept passing to the men that weee heavily marked.

His job was to combine with Torreira, just check how many passes he makes back to his partner CM in the second half.
Every time torreira got free from his marker and came to receive, guendouzi held the ball till it was too late and either passed back or to players heavily marked on the wings(iwobi, Kolasinac) or center (Aubameyang).

He was trying to make things on his own like sanchez, and no is not because nobody else was doinh anything. That's a shitty excuse to do make wrong choices and hog the ball and take 4/5 touches.

Because of this two of our most important players who have invariably been involved in starting the moves that expose the back viz Torreira and Lacazette hardly got a touch let alone a chance to combine together.

Guendouzi wasnt holding on to the ball like this when there was a senior partner beside him in receiving positions. He seems to be going the wilshere way of this continues

BTW it should be stated that for the first time in a while, our defense can say they played well.

They were overall excellent. All on the midfielders today.

You've got xhaka walking the ball into the goal for West Ham, I'm sure papa is sitting there thinking "I can't do more than I've done today."

He and guendozi are both too limited going forward to play together. A forward thinking midfielder like Ramsey must be in the side to create for laca and auba since they can't do it for themselves

He's 19 ffs.

19 year olds are inconsistent and they make mistakes.

Xhaka and Mustafi are 26. They are still playing like 19 year olds.

Agreed. I like his attitude and I hope he can improve.

Guendouzi is super young and lots of potential. He shouldn't be getting this much game time. But unless Unai wants to play Ramsey in CM, there's not a lot of options there.

Let's face it, we aren't a good team and club lacks ambition to improve. So results like this will happen on regular basis.

When you are good enough, you are old enough.

My benchmark is always a mullet-haired 16-year-old Fabregas at Cardiff against ManU in Charity Shield in August 2004.
Playing with his head up, always scanning the field, thinking 2 or 3 steps ahead what he is going to do, spot a passing channel a split-second before they are closed, and then pass and move in anticipation of a return pass as an option.

See any one of above attributes in Guendouzi?
I don't.

No of course not, but Fabregas was a once in a generation player. Making him your benchmark means you'll be disappointed by almost every young player in the world let alone the ones that Arsenal can attract.

You guys don't understand he was not doing this when he first broke through, infact even till a month back.

He was ok with moving the ball towards quickly.

I don't have a pbm with mistakes, but i have a pbm with ppl doing things that they didn't do before.

I remember coquelin trying stupid cross field ball, chipped passes etc ever since we signed elneny who was better at these things.

Coquelin became worse the following season and was eventually shunted out.

Jack wilshere, the same thing, amazing at dribble but still played deepest and didnt mine playing second fiddle to song and cesc and nasri. Plays brilliantly. Cesc and nasri @#$%& off, wilshere gets the nos 10 shirt, starts holding on to the ball trying to make things happen. Ppl laud him for "at least trying to make things happen" until eventually his career peters out.

Alexis sanchez another "at least he tried to make things happen" eventually ppl realizing how much he hogs the ball.

Ramsey after his wonder is season starts taking pot shots from outside, neglects his defensive duties that he did so well along aide arteta and again goes the same way, even earning a public comment from Wendy about how he is first a midfielder and not a goal scorer.

There are so many examples and i wanted to guendouzi to displace xhaka at the start of the season, but ever since emery played him as a 10 recently , he has stopped doing the basics and is hogging the ball.

I have seen s pattern over the past month and that's why it worries me.

It’s going to take a long long time to sort and that’s only if the owner has the ambition and inclination to support it.Miles behind the top four in quality and our tempo and general demeanour
