Match rating against Wolves - Unai Emery maintained Arsene Wenger's traditional Emirates Gift

No different from Arsene Wenger Era with traditional November Blip Slump and an Emirates Gift of a goal to all visitor.

emery is a rigid tactician and never learnt from Sporting Lisbon game where they packed the box and never gave Arsenal players and space to turn and with all predictable passing channels closed off.
We simply do not have a flair player that we had before from Thierry Henry to Alexis Sanchez that single-handed can turned a game with their individual brilliancy.

All we have are drones that continue to plug away in a predictable pattern, forwards that have no closed control to hold the ball, passing the ball with no understanding and to add insult to injury, hardly hit the target for the whole of the first half.

Alex Iwobi?
All flash and fluff with quick feet but no spatial awareness to pick and execute an accurate pass with all through balls easily anticipated and intercepted. it is not easy to stand on the pitch surrounded by players to spot a passing channel. You either have it or you don't. Iwobi does not have it and can't play No. 10.

Xhaka?
he tends to gather wool in a slow game and simply lack the mental strength to focus on the game form start to finish. perhaps playing a high tempo game will help instead of those boring Crab Football a la Arsene Wenger during first half.

The players lack urgency in their play from the first whistle, as if they are playing FC Barcelona and needed to be cautious and keep the ball away from them - safety first, if you have the ball, they cannot score. What is the point of having 72% and Wolves scored with their first decent chance?

8 - Leno - MOTM and very brave to make a double save and literally dived at the feet to save the rebound. Earned us a point by winning at least two 1-on-1 when exposed.

6 - Bellerin - trying hard and most of our attacking threats at right side before Mkhitaryan took over from Iwobi. Need to learn how to shoot straight.

6 - Mustafi - one or two dodgy moment but solid otherwise.

7 - Holding - one extra point for matching Costa and developing all the time. Still raw and developing.

3 - Kolasinac - what a waste of space as if we are playing 10 vs 12 with his miskicked and passing to opponents. Holding was left exposed most of the time.

6 - Xhaka - simply can't focussed in a slow pace game but otherwise came good in 2nd half.

7 - Torreira - another excellent display and showed he got more strings to his bow. Nice shooting and decent playmaking ability. ALl players should learnt from him - K.I.S.S.

6 - Ozil - he simply was marked out of the game and he should be a ball-hog with all plays going through him to be effective. Come good in the 2nd half.

3 - Aubameyang - Durham is right. Wtf October Player of the Month playing Sunday pub football on Sunday at the Emirates? Can't hold the ball, can't pass, can't get pass his man and oh, yes, can't shoot as well.

5 - Lacazette - a headless chicken performance running here and there ... and oh yes, did he had a shot on target?

6 - Guendouzi - provide a positive impetus in midfield driving forward instead of playing tippy-tappy football passing sideway and backward all the time like 1st half. And if he continues to develop at this rate, Xhaka should be redundant next season.

7 - Mkhitaryan - breathe life into out attack at right flank. One point for his accurate shooting.

6 - Ramsey - can't see much of him. Give him a 6 for making a positive influence to driving the team forward.

0 - Unai Emery - One fat ZERO for performing no better than Arsene Wenger in trying to break down a well-organised and compact team that defence in number and able to hit you with a sucker punch during their swift counter-attack with flair players that can hole the ball, dribbled and pick an accurate pass to a team-mate in the box.

Crystal Palace, Sporting Lisbon and Wolves.
Three teams that defend in mumbers, well-organised and have pacy and tricky forwards that can execute counter-attacks instantly upon winning back the ball.

Unai Emery still has no clue how to deal with it and just follow standard operation procedure and grinding away by riding on the cloak-tail of Lady Luck.
Every team knew that now and we are going to be found out pretty soon, when we meet Tiny Totts, ManU, Burnley and Bournemouth.

My brother in law went to the game with Wolves said he could not believe how poor Arsenal were and lacking in fight and desire

After the middling performances of the last few weeks, we are yet again reminded of just how important Monreal is to our offensive production.

His absence is no coincidence during this engine stall.

yep. Hes been a big miss. Also Aubameyang is missing chances he should bury. His holde up play and ball retention isn't great, so if teams aren't playing a highline, it leaves ozil and Lacazette with all the work to create spaces for other players. And if he isn't avoiding from inside the box, it becomes a complete handicap

Wrote about Monreal in another thread not realizing someone brought up here how much he is missed in the team. Anyway I came here to write Kalosinac should get a big fat zero for being absolutely useless both in defense and offense. He was just as responsible for the goal as Xhaka. No wonder he was a free signing.

We don't have anybody with 20 goals in the league, so that is a handicap - Arsene Wenger
