How Santi came back from the dead

- until Wenger moves on, they'll always be the also-rans in the major competitions. A club in elite purgatory. Always good enough to make it to the big race, never fast or smart enough to push over the finish line in first place. That's all about the manager. Until he changes, Arsenal fans will continue to celebrate glorious failure.

I don't know the guy and I have never met him in real life but Santi just comes across as a swell guy.Even though he wasn't here that long he is up there as one of my favorite Arsenal players of all time.

We don't have anybody with 20 goals in the league, so that is a handicap - Arsene Wenger

Thanks is for posting that padre, I wouldn't have seen it and it's a great read about a wonderful guy. Santi was the most two footed player I've ever seen.absolutely loved watching him play, but after reading that I can see why even if we had asked him to stay, he might not have wanted to.

Nice article, it's really sad what happened to him.

I was a big fan and probably my favourite player majority of time he was here. The hat-trick in his debut season was magic, plus the FA cup final free-kick against Hull which started the comeback.

Just glad he's playing football again in a top league.

Not a huge fan of him towards the end of his time here (only because of how he was used with Coquelin) but he has always been an excellent footballer and was a great asset to the club. As others have said it is a very moving story and I wish him nothing but the best.
