Without question, the biggest reason for optimism is the absence of wenger and his repeated failings - tactical, as you pointed out, but especially his unbridled predictability in terms of formation, personnel selections, tactics, and right down to substitution patterns.

I am especially looking forward to more detailed and PRAGMATIC pre-match preparation, particularly for away matches. For far too long, we have looked disinterested and disorganized in these away matches. That will change, I am certain.

City looked scarily good against Chelsea in the charity shield. Especially in their press.

If we try and play out from the back against them we are going to get destroyed. Be pragmatic and play some long balls in behind them for Aubameyang to chase.

Thanks younghan and Weedz. Just a short write-up.

younghan, I am not sure what you mean, I been around. Didn't comment on any of the world cup threads, not really big on it. Was just waiting for the league to start since May.

Yes, same old malaise, same old players but different manager.

Not impressed with our pre-season with the best performer a 19 year old rookie, not even a starter.

I expect Man City to walk all over us with their style of fluid football, intelligent players interchanging with our bewildered defence opening up like a can of sardines.

Let's remember Emery has to win to keep his job. Wenger didn't. As a result, Emery will not tolerate under performers as Gazidis will be on his back if results were poor. Wenger has no one on his back other than the Wenger out crowd. It is a different Arsenal now and a better one IMO.

Same old, same old. we are still losing the ball unnecessarily and not tight defensively. Why did Guendozi start? Elneny would have been better in midfield. Guendozi looked lost.
