- until Wenger moves on, they'll always be the also-rans in the major competitions. A club in elite purgatory. Always good enough to make it to the big race, never fast or smart enough to push over the finish line in first place. That's all about the manager. Until he changes, Arsenal fans will continue to celebrate glorious failure.

Sky.
GOAL! ARSENAL 0-1 CHELSEA (Rudiger, 5)

Fabregas tests Cech with a long-ranger which he pushes over the crossbar. From the corner, Fabregas pings in a flat delivery which finds Rudiger in acres of space. Smith Rowe was sleeping. The big German powers a header into the corner.

Hudson-Odoi basically doing what he did against our U23s last season

What I have liked so far is even thought we're being dominated Guendouzi is still so accomplished on the ball.

Still can't defend. Chelsea are cutting through with ease. So much space for them.

Looks like we're switching to man marking at corners, which I'm not a fan of at all.

Hmmmm..... Our defense is in disarray. Chelsea are finding so much space which they are exploiting. Its like slicing through melted butter. We just need to settle and play our game.

Good forward play between Kolasinac and Smith-Rowe but Caballero does well one-on-one.

Hudson-Odoi through one-on-one. Cech makes the initial save and then Mustafi heads clear.

Caballero fails to deal with Bellerin's cross.

It drops to Kolasinac and I don't know why the hell he didn't have a go first time.

1-0 Chelsea but could be 4 were it not for Cech.

Defence appalling, midfield out played and attack anonymous.

Bellerin has been ripped up by a 17 year old.

Really worried about our defensive options.

We have settled and found our rhythm but trying to walk the ball into the net or looking for that perfect pass has been our undoing. Chelsea still finding lists of space. Our defense is still suspect. Our positioning during corners still suspect. Cech has been fabulous.

Bellerin asleep miles behind our other defenders. Played Drinkwater onside but fortunately the linesman got the decision wrong...

Great cross from Chambers met well by Iwobi but Chelsea's sub keeper makes a good save.

After coming close twice the lively Lacazette equalises right at the death as converts Nelson's low cross.

Good goal.

Thoughts:

Cech our best player followed by Guendouzi.

Really worried about our defence. Not been impressed by Sokratis so far, Mustafi always has a mistake in him, Kolasinac seems to be getting worse and Bellerin was abysmal defensively and going forward. Chambers came on and immediately looked better going forward than Bellerin. At minimum we need a first choice left back and left-sided centre back.

No point having Elneny at the club, let alone in a match day squad, when we have Guendouzi who is better in every way.

Thought Mkhitaryan was poor again.

Lacazette was very lively when he came on.

GOAL! ARSENAL 1-1 CHELSEA (Lacazette, 90+3)

Probably deserved! They've come on strong in the closing stages. Nelson finds space down the right and this time finds the final ball. Lacazette is waiting at the back stick to tap in. We're going to penalties. Woop. De. Doo

The whole team needs a lot of work off the ball, not just the defence. The midfield especially were terrible without the ball and the forwards didn't know when to press and when to contain. Just a complete lack of structure and organisation when not in possession.

6 for 6 is impressive.
Methinks penalties have been a point of emphasis since Atletico.

Hopefully, Improvement will become a lot more commonplace around here.

Did Bellerin open the door for Lichsteiner to get more playing time?
Is Bellerin feeling that pressure behind him?

Please post what you can to verify that Ramsey was legitimately injured.

His withdrawal this close to the transfer deadline raises a suspicion that this unexpected absence might presage an imminent exit to a new club.

Forget Ramsey, let's concentrate on those who want to play for us for now not on those staling to sign a new contract.

He's injured most the time anyway so I wouldn't be surprised either way.
