Ornstein reckons the signing is close.

Leno seems to have regressed and is apparently very error prone.

We should be looking at better GK options IMO.

He's decent. Not many good GK's out there so as long as we don't have a truly trash one next season it's fine.

He's not great. He's tall but makes the goal look huge like Richard Wright use to. There's so many better options out there.

Yea, you are right. I'm not big on Leno either but there are really not many great keepers around. So who would you recommend?

The level of keepers have generally gone down everywhere. Even the best English keepers right now are really average - Pickford, Pope, Heaton, Butland. Butland may be the most gifted but prone to lapse in concentration. Britain used to produce top keepers for many decades but the top English keepers now are nowhere near the top British keepers like Seaman, Clemence, Woods, Shilton, Southall.

So, unless we can get Neuer, De Gea, or Ter Stegen, the club might as well stick with Cech, and spend the money on other position like a much needed penetrative winger.

I have a soft spot for Szcezny though, don't mind bringing him back in.

The keeper who just went to Wolves would have done nicely.

I'm generally concerned about the calibre of player we are being linked with. Not exactly world beaters or megastars. The latter bit is ok but we do need some real quality not the players who could maybe become top class. None of these players have shown they have the potential to be truly world class imo.

Has anyone seen more of him than a few youtube videos?

Will he be first choice next season?

Cech is comically bad. let's not pretend any half decent keeper wouldn't improve u.

Amen to that!

It's probably not a coincidence that our goalkeepers never improved. Szczesny and Fabianski both improved once they left. The curse of Gerry Peyton!

Is Butland available? I can't help but think he would not mind trading Stoke for Arsenal.

Butland would probably cost about £40m and we're skint apparently ....

You are forgetting that Arsenal is no longer the pretty bride that everybody wants.

I don't like this Leno guys build, seems like he won't be catching many corners. On the other hand his positional sense and agility to get in a good position seems top class. So he'll save those one on ones.
