What a way to kick off the season. Hope fans won't start attacking Emery if we loose.

It will get misery out of the way early

- until Wenger moves on, they'll always be the also-rans in the major competitions. A club in elite purgatory. Always good enough to make it to the big race, never fast or smart enough to push over the finish line in first place. That's all about the manager. Until he changes, Arsenal fans will continue to celebrate glorious failure.

Our usual poor start looks like continuing.

That's a horrible start for a new manager. New lower league managers who start badly rarely recover and struggle for the season. But if Emery can somehow make it through those two then he'll build a lot of confidence.

It's not enough time for him to get players playing his way imo though.

Playing City first game is big advantage. Almost all the city players will be on World Cup duty n many of them will come back much later will miss the 1st game where as major Arsenal players aren’t in WC it’s a huge advantage against both city n Chelsea. Go Emery go for it!

Got a point there.

Good point.
Recalled that after all WC and European Nation Cup, virtually half our team was wiped out in August and only came full strength during mid-Sept/Oct.

This is the first season I recalled that we have a virtually Starting-11 for pre-season training.

Plus they won it easily last season. Their players might not have the same motivation. Our boys need to impress their manager.

Yes, but remember Man City has got quality in depth plus the fact that most of them are already playing together beautifully under Pep, while our first game will most likely include a host of new players playing together for the first time under a new manager, with a new system.

Emery must take pre-season as competitively as necessary to get everyone playing together and bed-in into the his system of play.
