By giving Cech the No.1, it signalled intent to keep him

Financially, I see Emery is concentrating on strengthening DEFENCE and MIDFIELD.

With a proper protection in front of him, Cech still has a bit of mileage in him for another season.

Ospina?
His future is uncertainly and I suspect he will hang around if his prospective employer refuses to match his salary.
Emery may promise him more game time to keep him.

After all, both goalies may perform way better than last season when there is a solid Back-4 and a defensive midfielder in front of them.

With limited funds, Emery got his priority right to strengthen Back-4 first, then MDIFIELD and if any quality goalie is available, wait for January or next summer transfer window.

Perhaps WC2018 will throw up a few gem of a goalie that we can snap up … at a bargain of course.

WRONG.

Both Cech and Ospina are individual liabilities - a stronger back four will not eradicate their shortcomings.

We need a new keeper and one of them stay as no 2

- until Wenger moves on, they'll always be the also-rans in the major competitions. A club in elite purgatory. Always good enough to make it to the big race, never fast or smart enough to push over the finish line in first place. That's all about the manager. Until he changes, Arsenal fans will continue to celebrate glorious failure.

Cech stays as our No. 2 and acts as a mentor to our new No. 1.

Ideally, that's true but you know the current situation right, they aren't going to prioritize a new goalkeeper signing over a CB or a MF signing so Cech stays for a year or so as no 1 then they might push him to no 2.

I like the look of that guy at Juve, ready made replacement for an ageing formerly world class goalkeeper and with no development required.

I seriously doubt Emery will let a Cech way past his best to be our number on keeper. He should be a backup .

If 50 mn is true, leicster and everton will out spend us in this window possibly. So we don't really have any money left to buy a gk

With a defense with a better defensive awareness and discipline, can we manage Cech for another season???

A better back four will only expose and put greater focus on our poor goalkeeping.

We MUST get a new No. 1 keeper.
