Team against Newcastle - Mr. Tinkerman at play?

With Mkhi out, and plenty of off-form players that led him down, particularly Wilshere and Iwobi, Wenger is fighting for his future and is ruthless enough to start tuning his team against A. Madrid with the next 2 league games in mind.

A fired-up Welbeck needs games and he will certainly start at the right-flank and inter-change with Lacazette as centre forward.

Front-3 of Auba-LAca-Welbeck can interchange all the time, maintaining a fluidity that confuses defenders and drag them out of shape for deep-running midfielders like Ozil and Ramsey to run into space and passing channels.

PACE, MOVEMENT and Mobility ...that was missing in our awful first 7 months of the season and we are starting to re-discover that with Auba and a fit-again Laca and Welbeck, both starting to regain their match sharpness.

Not forgetting a rejuvenated Ozil (of course, 350,000pw is a massive incentive) finally decided to play for his legacy at Arsenal FC; and a fit-again Ramsey re-discovering his shooting boots.

Pity the defence though. It needs a massive "Alterations and Additions" to rebuild it.

This should be the team that Arsene Wenger should field with an eye towards A. Madrid:

................................... Cech

... Bellerin .... Mustafi ...... Koscielny ... Monreal

.................................Elneny

... Welbeck.....Xhaka............Ozil.......Aubameyang

.............................. Lacazette

Ramsey is out with a badly gashed shin.

We need the pace and engine of both Welbeck and Elneny to press opponents high up and track back all over the pitch once the ball is lost. This will afford time for Defence and Xhaka to get back into position to defend and to command the vacuum between half-way line and Back-4.

DEFENDING starts at opponent's half for WenegrBall.
And it was missing until the return of a fit-again Welbeck, plus Laca and Ozil putting in a defensive shift.

An away draw is a good score considering our poor away form.

Newcastle are not a soft touch these days, so could be a tough game, unless they have packed beach towels already.
I predicted 1-1 for Moscow, and am doing the same for today.

- until Wenger moves on, they'll always be the also-rans in the major competitions. A club in elite purgatory. Always good enough to make it to the big race, never fast or smart enough to push over the finish line in first place. That's all about the manager. Until he changes, Arsenal fans will continue to celebrate glorious failure.
