Criticism is 'ageist' - Wenger

Wenger apparently thinks that some of the criticism he receives is because people are ageist.

Nothing to do with being completely incompetent at your job then, Arsene.

- until Wenger moves on, they'll always be the also-rans in the major competitions. A club in elite purgatory. Always good enough to make it to the big race, never fast or smart enough to push over the finish line in first place. That's all about the manager. Until he changes, Arsenal fans will continue to celebrate glorious failure.

Wonder what Bergy Parlour Keown and the rest of the 1 year contracts for over 30s crew would have to say about this...

Good point that exposes his hypocrisy

I do think there's a percentage of people (fans, media etc) who do think his decline is caused by age. I mean how many of us call him stuck in his ways and a dinosaur?

Doesn't change the fact that he is rubbish. Essentially the reason is irrelevant. If it is age that's driven it. Who cares, you still need to go.

The fact that he thinks he should be judged by the previous 22 years is ridiculous as well. Managers are judged by the previous year or two at most.

Judge him over the last 14 years, that is reasonable. During that time he has not won the league or CL once!
Yes he has won FA cup 3 times in that period but failed to win the league cup. No top club would keep such a manager.

It p*sses me off when people say things like 'He did brilliant for the club, but', as if trying to excuse the fact he is now a diabolical manager. I couldn't care less what he did for the club in those first 8 years anymore as he has dragged it royally down the sh*tter for the last 14.

He's a disgrace.

He has overstayed his time by at least five years. My concern is that those in the driving seat have allowed him to do so.

I agree, that's the biggest problem here.

Over 32 was always the policy for 1 year contracts.

No it wasn't, it was 30. Wenger only changed his tune when he decided to sign c.rap players instead like Arteta.

wenger's despicable character reveals itself more and more as his career collapses before him.

It has gone beyond his innate arrogance and morphed from crippling self-delusion into straight-up lying to attempt to justify his pathetic existence.

Not his fault ... NEVER his fault.
