Legal or not, tapping up happens all the time in football and if we had any balls then we'd get word to Conte, tell him to sit tight for a few more months and to reject every offer that comes his way when he's inevitably sacked in favour of joining Arsenal in May. I'd trust him and his backroom staff to overhaul the defence in a major way and I think appointing him would represent a very big step back to the big time.

Will he bring long-term success? Nope, but neither would Guardiola or any other manager on planet earth and that's because English football is way too competitive - how long has it been since the title was successfully defended? - but I fancy him to bring short-term success and when it fizzes out then so be it, just get another winner through the door and reset the cycle.

That's what big clubs do and it's time we started acting like one at board level.

Looks like you are on a mission to end Conte's career n send him on early retirement sitting on a beach counting waves, aliens have more chances to show up rather than Wenger leaving Arsenal... (Sm22)

LOL come on Shane, Conte is going to be a manager in demand.

You really think when the likes of Real, PSG, Bayern maybe who all maybe interested, that Conte will sit tight waiting on us to finally bin Wenger so he can work for and alongside the biggest den of c.unts in the league?

Very much doubt the board would want Conte.

LOL come on Shane, Conte is going to be a manager in demand.

That's sort of why we should go for him mate. If we don't try and compete with elite clubs for elite managers then I don't see how we're going to compete with them for trophies.

I know everyone likes the idea of Arsenal hiring some 38-year-old prospect of a manager who will usher in a glorious new era at the club and oversee a dynasty but it's never in a million years going to happen at any big English club.

Big English clubs don't gamble on young managers with potential anymore. Instead, they get the best, most decorated man available and I don't see why we should be any different.

I'd take Conte tomorrow, but Wenger's got another year and after that he'll sign another deal and maybe even another after that.

Unfortunately he's going nowhere and the reality is we'll be stuck in groundhog day for a long time yet.

Can he really get his contract renewed? Wenger is fast appraching 70, I wonder if he doesn't want to share time with his grand children or something of that style.

Ferguson being much more succesful decided to drop out and enjoy life at 71.

Wenger is the most stubborn and delusional man on the planet.

There's no way he walks away from 'his project' just for someone else to come in and prove his incompetence by winning the league.

We'll be wheeling him out on his death bed.
