Player Ratings vs. Swansea

Cech - 4. Did well on one low Dyer cross before scuffing his clearance to allow Swansea to score their second. Went to pieces after that.

Bellerin - 4. Didn't do enough defensively or going forward.
Koscielny - 4. Was offered no protection by his midfield and struggled against Swansea's pacy attack.
Mustafi - 3. Struggled against Ayew and Dyer's pace. Shaky first half and even worse in the second half.
Monreal - 5. Hero to zero as he scored but was then played a big part in Swansea's second and third goals.

Xhaka - 3. Tracked Clucas initially but then crucially let him go as Swansea equalised. Didn't offer enough going forward. Doesn't have the tools to play as an #8. I'm done with him.
Elneny - 4. Prevented a sure goal with a saving tackle but that was as good as it got from him, defensively or in possession. Doesn't do enough.
Ramsey - 4. Prevented a sure goal with a good block at the back post, that was about it. Didn't get into the game.

Iwobi - 3. His worst performance in an Arsenal shirt for me. Had one chance in the first half but otherwise we may as well have played with 10 men.
Lacazette - 3. You'd have thought he'd be putting in more effort with Aubameyang apparently on the way, but that was awful. Slow, weak, largely stationary. Showed why teams just aren't as interest in "poachers" these days.
Ozil - 4. Unreal pass for Monreal's goal. Lost possession in the build up to Swansea's equaliser. Too weak.

Subs:

Mkhitaryan - 4. A few nice touches without making an impact.
Giroud - N/A. Not on long and we didn't create anything for him anyway.

If all the excitement of the end of the transfer window had somehow allowed you to forget what a mess this club is in, then this evening provided a devastating reminder. The same old, same old, I'm afraid.

Without the ball - First and foremost, we just cannot defend, as a unit or as individuals. All three of Swansea's goals tonight you can pick up on a whole number of individual mistakes. Its the basics, the fundamentals. It is embarrassing to watch and nothing is ever done about it.

With the ball - Swansea knew exactly what to do tonight. Our match day squad lacked pace, the ability to take the ball past a man, and, most importantly, dynamic off the ball movement. You don't need Xhaka AND Elneny, especially against Swansea, plus Iwobi, Ramsey and Lacazette offered nothing. Swansea let us have the possession and crowded the central areas, also knowing that, not only did we lack width/ natural wide players, but we also lacked any kind of forward with an aerial presence.

Further evidence why we'll never compete for a major honour under Wenger again, if it was needed. We should not be letting that man spend big money on anymore players, though of course, its very difficult to truly judge players with this idiot as manager.

All round 2 the team was absolutely horrendous

74% possession and 92% passing accuracy, but only 9 shots, which perfectly sums up what is wrong with the way we try to play.

Absolutely pathetic performance from whole team. Nil points.
Wenger a F*cking clown. Nil points.

Yes GS we need a keeper. (but it isn't Ospina)

Out of the team tonight there is probably 7 that aren't up to it.
Plus a manager who has lost all ideas of tactics and defending.

The board are trusting Wenger to spend big cash and buy players who in all honesty won't make a bloody difference how we play or defend with him in charge.

Think we've all been in agreement about us needing a keeper since the end of last season. Cech is finished and Ospina certainly isn't the answer either. Honestly might as well stick Macey in the sticks for the rest of the season.

From Twitter, "we are on course to take just 1 point out of 12 against Watford, Chelsea, Bournemouth and now Swansea despite taking a 1-0 lead in each game."

We've conceded more goals this season than now-bottom of the table West Brom.

And worryingly you can't see us getting any better in defence.

Dread to think what could happen at Wembley if City are in full flow.

We will finish 6th but win the tin cup and that will give the board a good excuse to extend Wenger's contract.

We're not beating City, not by a long shot.

It will be 6th place and f.uck all silverware ... but they'll still extend Wengers contract.

I've never said Opsina is the answer but he's clearly better than Cech.

Apparently Ramsey's return would help Laca return to form, that went well...

Cech, Mustafi, Elneny, Ramsey and Xhaka all need binning!

We all thought the same thing with Chelsea about the FA final last season.

Wenger unexpectedly winning a game no one thought we would win are the reason AKBers keep having hope in Wenger and quite fan unrests.

^I didn't think we'd beat Chelsea last year granted ... but we have got a lot worse under Wenger since then both squad and performance wise. Where as City have got way better and are flying, we're not winning that game.

But it doesn't matter anyway because there isn't anything that could finally rid us of that disease Wenger. He's on par with that Ethiopian love flu from the 80's.

Sorry but anyone who thinks these problems are as simply as an individual players haven't watched over the last 10 years and are trying to suit their agendas.

Been trying to think of examples of where things like last night have happened before and I've thought of two that happened just 9 days apart.

Arsenal 0-1 Swansea. Swansea allowed us to dominate possession, crowding the central areas, and snatched a win late on with a Bafetimbi Gomis header which Ospina got a hand to but couldn't keep out, adjudged via the goal line decision system.

9 days later, Arsenal 0-0 Sunderland. Sunderland used Swansea's blueprint of letting us have possession and crowding the central areas (Cazorla made 152 passes in that game, which I believe is a record?) and snatched a vital 0-0 draw which confirmed their Premier League survival.
