Brit Pack 4.0 - Arsene Wenegr finally got lucky again circa 1997/98?

Arsene Wenger got lucky with the French Spine, with his intimate knowledge of French Football during its 1990s Golden Era.
He picked up world-class youngsters like Vieira, Anelka and Henry.

He is a football purist whose obsession is to follow Rinus Michels' Ajax Model of Team Building, i.e. building a team from Academy to senior team, all imbued with his philosophy of playing Total Football. Of course, then he has Johan Cryuff as his flag bearer ... like Guardiola's Barca with Messi as his flag bearer.

Brit Pack 1.0 died without a whimper with his flag-bearer, an indiscipline Jack Wilshere failed to fulfil his potential with sheer bad luck in long-term injuries and his off-the-pitch antics.

Fast forward to Brit Pack 4.0 together with Theo Walcott, Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere as senior players backing up and leading Brit Pack 4.0.

I was impressed by Brit Pack 4.0 against BATE, Boy against Man, playing with courage and slugging out toe-to-toe with BATE players employing physically intimidations to stop them from playing ... flying elbows, body checks, ankle-high tackles, etc.

Maitland-Niles, Nelson, Willock and Nkietah ... they are the bright future and will form the core of the Arsenal 4.0 that Arsene Wenger envisaged that he will build since his arrival in October 1996 at Arsenal FC.

A bonus is the coming-of-age of Walcott, Ramsey and Wilshere, overcoming their annual "long-term injury jinx" every season; and hopefully they will be robust enough to last a season without any long-term injury.

That is the reason why Arsene Wenger signed on to develop his Arsenal 4.0 project.
And that will be the reason why he would continue after 2019 for another 2 more years to guide his Arsenal 4.0 into full bloom.

We can move up to the next level, I'm convinced of that, by having faith in the way we want to play football and by supporting the players we have already," said Wenger, whose seventh FA Cup title made him the competition's most successful manager. "Of course we'll try to strengthen our squad to be strong next season, but we want to be faithful to the way we want to play the game."

Whether Kroenke is the right person to lay the foundations for success is disputed by Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov, who owns 30 per cent of Arsenal and recently failed in a $1.3 billion bid for the club.

"(Wenger) has a great opportunity to deliver the success that the fans deserve and the legacy that his long contribution merits," Usmanov said Wdnesday. "However without the right support there remains a real risk that his legacy will be tarnished. If the support is not forthcoming, we stand ready to step in and do everything we can to deliver success on and off the field."

Let's revisit when Wenger signed his 2-year extension.

This is the key statement why wenger signed on:
"Of course we'll try to strengthen our squad to be strong next season, but we want to be faithful to the way we want to play the game."

He managed to sign Lacazette and Kolasinac to strengthen Forward-Line and LB.
By refusing to sell Alexis and Ozil, he has the backing of the Board to forgo at least 100-mil revenues to ensure the squad is competitive.

His legacy?
Wenger got 2 years to undo the damages of past decade to burnish his legacy before he leaves Arsenal FC. And the best legacy will be a successful Youth Project with Brit Pack 4.0 as his living legacy.
