May not be the case. Wenger might switch back to 4 2 3 1 formation and play Nelson in place of Alexis who is clearly not match fit. Wenger will more likely start Walcott or Iwobi before Nelson as Wenger has a pecking order in his team selection.

Wenger only moved to this formation as a last ditch desperate measure because we were getting thrashed by the likes of Palace and West Brom.

He simply copied Chelsea as he did Barca the last formation, he hasn't got a clue how to actually coach these formations. Hence why he consistently fails and the players look lost all the time.

Monreal almost confirmed they will still stick to the new formation and theo will not be able to defend to play as wing back. So its possible he will play the lad there in europa and @#$%& his future

It is always Wenger's policy to stick young players at the flank for them to develop their versatility and ball control in a tight situation when half their available space is cut-off. ... like Diaby, Walcott, Ramsey and Wilshere.

And he said that when they are rotated back to central midfield, they would appreciate the demands of flank players and will adjust their delivery and passing accordingly.

Playing Nelson as wingback will develop his tackling and physical game fast plus racking back will develop his engine.
Coming in from deep will develop his tactical awareness and his crossing ability at the by-lines. And he is not along with Ozil or Lacazette in front of him, and a sweeper like Coquelin or Elneny patrolling behind him when he is attacking.

Regardless of 3-4-3 or 4-2-3-1, there is always a defensive player behind him at right flank, i.e. Bellerin or Debuchy or Mustafi or Chambers/Holding.

He will not play like a disinterested OX not tracking back or an awful Bellerin clearly with his mind elsewhere, but like a fired-up youngsters determined to secure his place as a regular.

We have nothing to lose playing a committed player willing to run all day flank-to-flank rather than a disinterested player in the team.

Doesn't help the players in the long run.

Nelson still needs to develop his attacking game. Iwobi (not that he has fully arrived yet) wouldn't be the player he is today if we kept sticking him at right wing back
