If your nickname is Shambles

What does it say about you?

I watched a Soccer Am video of Rob Holding earlier, where he revealed that Mertesacker christened Oxlade-Chamberlain with that name because of his habit for being late. I'm completely aware that it's a light-hearted nickname, not to be taken overly seriously, but at the same time does it not give an insight into his professionalism behind the scenes?

I think it does because players who have their sh*t together don't get tarred with such nicknames, jovial or not, do they?

Sorry to be beating the anti-Ox drum but hearing that makes perfect sense to me, because if he wasn't a Shambles off the pitch then he might not have been one on it for six years

George Best was a Shambles didnt undermine the fact he was a great player.
Behaving like a seargent Major cost us Charlie George and Lawrie Cunningham.
Not every woman with no arms is the Venus de Milo and the Ox is no George or Cunnigham, just an inconsistent, overpaid journeyman

- until Wenger moves on, they'll always be the also-rans in the major competitions. A club in elite purgatory. Always good enough to make it to the big race, never fast or smart enough to push over the finish line in first place. That's all about the manager. Until he changes, Arsenal fans will continue to celebrate glorious failure.

I thought you was talking about Alex Song during the African Clique Era.

But on the other hand, OX may had decided that he no longer wanted to play for Arsenal FC and forcing a move away.

And Klopp has a reputation of being a hard taskmaster with his high pressing game.
Fun though to watch how the future unfold at Anfield.

I predict Liverpool to go a very long way this year CL campaign which is playing in the hand of Wenger who will take Klopp's CL commitment to go all the way to the wire in Wenger cup race.

Given that the nickname came from Mertesacker and Ramsey, two people whom I would imagine go to bed with a freshly ironed handkerchief poking out of the breast pocket of their pyjamas, I wouldn't read too much into it mate.

Ox won't stay fit long enough to achieve his potential. He would do well at somewhere like leicester with a more direct style of play but I'm not exactly distraught he left. Just more concerned that it reveals how young players no longer trust Wenger to develop them
