Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang made it five goals in three pre-season run-outs, but a mistake from new signing Bernd Leno handed Brentford victory in a behind closed doors friendly at London Colney on Thursday.

The game was kept secret before kick-off, with both clubs agreeing not to publicly state that they would be meeting at Arsenal's training ground.

But whispers of the match started to circulate during Thursday afternoon after a Brentford player posted on Instagram about a pre-season game, with the Arsenal training ground as his location tag.

Football.London then contacted Arsenal to ask if a game had taken place and a spokesman confirmed that it had, but that the club would not be putting out any information on what happened because it was not considered to be an official friendly match.

The spokesman did confirm, however, that Unai Emery used the run-out to give all of the players in his squad some minutes, as he had done against Crawley just 24 hours earlier in another behind closed doors meeting at the training ground.

Arsenal's head coach organised the two games to get some more minutes into his players before they fly out to Singapore on Sunday, where they will take on Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
