With Podolski nearly half probable starters have some cajones.

Podolski looks like he plays on the edge in terms of aggression. This is a good thing as we don't have enough of that in our squad, but with Wilshere back we will have Szcz, Vermaelen, Sagna, Wilshere, and now Podolski probably all starting and none of them like to take any @*£$. 5/11 ain't bad, I'm sure there was a time when we had a whole team full of gentlemen and it counts in the PL.

All means nothing without an attacking mid.

what if wilshere moves to attacking mid?

Can we really afford to drop arteta?

I think podolski and van verteiegrgortgnhrf will be our only signings

The only thing that stops me thinking Wilshere can play there is that doesn't like the position himself. He's better than Arteta at the deep role because he drives forward and links up with the AM and strikers a bit of a silent assassin.

I would be happier with Wilshere-Song-Rosicky than Arteta-Song-Wilshere.

What if wilshere does not return to 100% fitness?

Even if he does, how long would it take for him to rediscover the touch and accuracy to serve as our AM?

karsene where did you get he does not like AM role, that has always been his position, well up till last season

*Signing Ozil is a signing Bergkamp type moment for Arsenal. It changes things utterly.*

I always thought he was played deeper so he can improve on his all round game.

I think is wengers plan to play him ACM

And as I said, I don't think Arteta is droppable at the moment.

That was a year ago.

I think he will be fine as the ACM

I don't think we need a central midfielder as much as what people think. Someone to cover song would be good

A creative wide player is more important, and I am not including podolski in that bracket.

DM - Song, Van vertoghen, Frimpong
CM - Arteta, Ramsey, Diaby, Coquelin
ACM- Wilshere, Rosicky

If wilshere IS to be played at CM then yes, get a ACM. If not, then surely arteta has done enough to merit a starting place next season.

But then again, is there enough game winning quality in that Midfield?

After a great deal of though and consideration, my ideal midfield is probably this...

Coquelin - Arteta - Wilshere

Genuinely.

Actually nis I'm not sure those players do consistently stand their ground. I think it's also pretty obvious that, much as we tire of the repetition, bottle and character have been an issue for purely Wenger-built Arsenal sides.

RvP is getting there but can still be petulant which is clearly different. I wouldn't say Koscielny, Song or Ramsey have that presence on the field, they may be solid in 1 v 1 situations but in general they seem pretty quiet. We don't need 11 nutters berating the ref but some field presence in each part of the pitch counts in any type of match IMO. I haven't seen enough of Podolski to really judge I suppose but I like what I have seen, compared to mild-mannered Gervinho (won't go for a header but will get wound up and sent off) or Theo.

walcott is soft, this is true.
But, the biggest softie on our squad is the manager.
