This is the board where Arsenal fans can discuss all things Arsenal, and any other football issues that they feel are of interest to Gunners. Opposition fans are welcome, but remember this board is from an Arsenal point of view. Off Topic Discussion should take place on the Off Topic Forum. Off Topic discussion will be removed. Any topic that is football related, within reason, is not off topic.
As much as I cannot stand Mouringho, I can't see what the big deal is. I know is not politically correct to address someone of that community in a pejorative term, but what else can you call them? You can't say homos, f@ggots, queers, gays. What else can you say? Ahh, the Aussies got a term, Woooly woofta, or the Jamaicans say mama man, maybe those terms are more politically correct.
HG - the issue is not only the terminology used, its the fact that he used the term (whatever term is largely irrelevant but not totally) as an insult. The context is he is apparently referring to referees as '@#$%&'.
It is using a term to define an entire group of people as an insult. Do you not see the problem with that?
Its like everyone in your community using your family name as an insult for anyone they dislike. Would you consider that ok?
This kind of talk can condition people to view anything associated with that group as negative.
The common use of pejorative terms normalises and desensitises the issue which is dangerous in itself.
Zainy The context is he is apparently referring to referees as '@#$%&'.
So this is what's this all about, he referred to refs as '@#$%&'. Man, I could've thought of more stronger language than that. But suffice is to call them, mama man. Yea, Howard Webb, you're a freaking mama man.
I rarely use bad language, but that Mourinio is a repellent low life. Its been mooted to us that if Harry takes the england job we could get the so-called special one. I hope to god this never happens. We run on a small budget, this clown needs the federal reserve to build a decent team. He walks after two seasons no matter who he is with, yet bleats loyalty. He winds up and alienates every club he faces - hence he is hated in Spain. Madrid/Barcelona relations were excellent at board level until he arrived. He has disgraced the name of Real Madrid. I don't care what he says about gay people I'm sure they can stick up for themselves, but it's his overall demeanour and strategy to anger everybody. The pain in Spain, I call him.
