good idea but far from ideal execution..... the demonitised notes will take a couple of months more(may be till March 17) to be fully replaced with new ones.... but upside is also quite evident

1. Unrest in Kashmir which has been going on for almost 6 months since killing of a terrorist leader has drastically reduced due to cash crunch and non-usage of old notes.... Separatists which got funded to create unrest unable to mobilise crowds (which many times were women n children used as shields)

2. Burning down of schools in Kashmir has seen vast reduction in occurrences. Children were stopped from going to schools by burning them down n creating unrest in the area.... After 8th Nov, exams were conducted in kashmir and it had about 95% of students appearing in it which showed they want to go thru education but not allowed to for sinister political gains.

3. Naxals, Maoist violent activities in tribal n rural areas has seen huge reduction.... Last 2-3 months has seen highest number of surrenders and wanting to join mainstream society in years...

4. Counterfeit currency hoarders n carriers have faced a severe blow and unable to flush Indian economy with more fake notes...

5. Last 3 months has seen voluntary declaration of unaccounted money and as per current figures available till Sept 16, abt Rs 65000 Crores have been declared (1 Cr = 10 million & 1 GBP is abt 85 Rs) while 2 declarations of 13000 Cr n 2,00,000 Cr have been declared void and are under investigation

This is just the tip of the iceberg as far as financial cleansing of Indian economy is concerned and initial steps have seen troubles for everyone in the country but the reactions available on mainstream media depends on whether media houses are pro or against government.... but general reaction from public is though it is painful, its a necessary step for the country

It is ofcourse not yet clear how useful this first step will turn out to be as thr r always people who want to safeguard their unaccounted money n brilliant minds available to exchange your money figuring out the loopholes in the entire exercise
