of course mate, of course (Sm17)

that's the name of the game.

Grand National wont be as easy as last years with Ballabriggs, should have a decent selection for it in the morning though.

Two, one of them, Syncronised, just won the Gold Cup few weeks ago.

It's a very inhumane race. It reminds me of the time I went to the Bullfighting in Spain, just said to myself 'this isn't right'.

Re: Aintree Tips

had a relative today tell me before the race that "fecking do gooders" were the reason why BBC will no longer broadcast the national, I asked him what he meant, and was suprised to hear, "just cos a few horses die in it most years, these do gooders stick their nose into it"
having listen to this sort of bull, I decied not to even watch the race, I don't really care to see a race where we can expect to see a horse or two die, for no good reason.

Ignorant views such as that are rife in every bookies up and down the country unfortunately.

Re: Aintree Tips
eduardo 15 April, 2012 00:53
forgot to add he stated that these do gooders had already "made the race too easy as it is"
I wonder will he have changed his views a little as I know he had money on Syncronised, but I doubt it, I think even if every horse died in the race it would not register

Don't like the fact that people that like the well being of horses are called do gooders myself,

It's moving from the BBC because channel 4 bought the rights. people are fussing about the ad breaks but most domestic racing is on channel 4 anyway.

They've made so many races safer throughout the years and many don't seem to care that the most viewed and commercial race of them all is not being made safer.

There shockingly has been a few years without deaths but may become more regular due to higher number of class horses which makes the race faster.

So what’s the answer? Ban horseracing completely, scrap the Grand National or something in between. Over 800 horses have died on racecourses during the last 5 years. An unknown number in training, Of course those horses would never have been born in the first place if there was no racing. It’s not nice knowing a horse is going to die for the sake of entertainment and the betting industry, but there’s something magnificent about seeing these creatures in full flow. Any thoughts?

for the national there should be less horses in the race, and also the course needs to be made easier, they could even consider some sort of qualifying criteria for gaining entry to the race

Those exact horses would not be born in any other circumstance, but how is that an argument for anything?
Thinking that its an acceptable loss for horses to die in the name of entertainment is barbaric and demeans us as a society.

So would you stop all horse racing Zainy.

Would you apply the same argument to humans and ban say motor racing.

I don't know enough about racing horses to know if racing could potentially be altered to drastically reduce deaths.

In horse races like Grand national where deaths are essentially to be expected is quite different from the tragedies in say F1 racing where the last death was 18 years ago. The main difference however is that getting into a car and racing despite knowing it could be fatal is voluntary. Racing horses do not race voluntarily nor I'm sure are they aware they may die in doing so.
