Anything made my Apple.

I've got an iTouch which serves me well, and a normal phone, like most people so why the f*ck do they shell out 500 notes for an iPhone?

And on the day a new one is released they actually queue up like d*ckheads all day to get the latest one which is even more perplexing. They're not Take That tickets, they'll still be available tomorrow and the next day and the next day so what are you doing in a queue? you utter c*ntholes.

I agree with the iPad also, just a massive iTouch, what's the point? There is no point.

I'm only 23 but I feel like this is a grumpy old man post.

Couldn't agree more.

Apple should go down in history for their marketing well before their "innovations."

When you hear about the extraordinarily high suicide rates at their assembly plants and some of the conditions therein it doesn't make it any better.

I'm 23 as well.

Also, I think owning a home is far overrated. People often bury themselves under a lifetime of debt simply to own, when renting may be the more practical choice and offer a better quality of life and mind.

Owning a home is wonderful. Why pay all your money to a landlord and have nothing to show for years and years of work?

In England a house is seen as an investment. Maybe this is different in America.

Agree Zainy, flashy cars are a waste of money.

Mobile phones. Hate them. Who wants to be contactable all the time?

Re: Popular things which you think are a waste of money:

No, it's seen as an investment here as well.

If you are settled with a family and have a steady income it can certainly be a great investment.

I'm the son of a Construction Worker and Land Lord however, and let me tell you: at least here, the number of children, high divorce rates, low employment, and additional costs (tax, repairs, insurance, etc.) - I've seen families break apart over this many times over.

The problem isn't necessarily ownership as much as practicality.

Where you from Jens?

I have hummed and hawed over buying Property, but I've put my plans on hold until the market properly bottoms out here in Ireland which I don't think it has. So for now renting makes sense. But like hippo says, if you can afford it owning property is a good investment.

tropical fish, unless you know how to look after them.

Re: Popular things which you think are a waste of money:
Zainy 25 February, 2012 12:56
What about koi?
For serious collectors the rare one would cost upwards of 100k. For a fish. Granted they can live close to 50 years but still.
I had a friend who collected them in a home made pond in the back yard and would on occassion swim with them in that grotesque water. Of course his wasnt the incredibly selectively bred super mutant koi though.

When you are the owner of a very succesful goldfish you dont have to keep banging on about it. I just let Gordon go from strength to strength mate. Every day is another success story as far as that mighty fish is concerned. I dont want to keep rubbing it in.

On the subject, cars a huge waste of money. Unless you live far away from places, you can get where you need by walking or the bus. Of course it is more inconvenient, but the money people spend on cars is ridiculous. 'ooh I cant go out for the next fourteen weeks, the radiator fell off my car and it cost me £2500 to replace it'

As for I pads, they are a handy tool for rich people to sit in bed and watch online films, have a muck about with some music tracks, or chat to their friends. They are a decent bit of kit but hardly an economical replacement for a PC or a phone, so they are only for people with the applicable funds.

I love my iPad2, just recently used it at a concert we put together to collect credit cards and cash at the event as well as process the online ticket sales

I think its great for people that don't need the full power of a laptop, which tons don't

also you should always try to own your home if at all possible..why rent and years later have nothing to show for it

I've bought and sold properties for years and years and I always advise people to buy..I know people who live in the same place for 10 years and say I would never buy this place...strange

another use for the iPad 2 which we are going to include in our next property venture is full home automation, you'll be able to control your lights, curtains, home temperature,tv,stereo all from the iPad

waste of money
overpriced meals
namebrand t-shirts

Its a hard question because everything can be considered a waste if you're not into it...I mean I'll spend thousands on a guitar..so who am I to talk

The pastor at my brothers wedding last year used an iPad instead of a paper bible. Useful to some and that definitely makes sense.

going to football.

that is GENUINELY a waste of money nowadays.

I think most people are cutting down on going.

It wouldnt matter if Arsenal were doing really well, the notion of going to very game is dying with a lot of people in this country, there just isnt enough to recommend spending a couple of hundred pound a month when the price of food has pretty much doubled and nobody has had a pay rise in 5 years.

Yes, can't help it though.

A football fan has the most one sided relationship ever - your club doesn't care in the slightest about you. Ruthless.

Yeah but is it worth the hassle? I know people who wear a lot of gold, and all they are worried about is will they get mugged, or will their homes be robbed.

Notepad's are overrated, I hardly ever use mine.
Dyson vacuum cleaners are another one. 5 years free service but they want you to stay in all day. Best buy a cheap one and throw it away when its bust

Those pirate fellows were onto something. What with the burying and such.

I travel pretty light myself, the only real item of serious value I have is probably my car, rest of my dinero goes into the bank account or my stomach (in liquid form, of course).
