Incest couple denied rights?

Do they have a point?

Putting aside our immediate 'oh my g0d eww' reaction, the lawyers argument is fair enough.
The banning of incest is based on the increased likelihood of having a disabled child. But getting pregnant over the age of 35 increase your likihood of disabilities mainly downs syndrome and disabled adults are more likely to conceive disabled children yet it's not illegal for either of these circumstances to occur.
Now if incest was legalised I might have to projectile vomit against my living room wall but does te argument make sense?

Thats a tough one Zainy, I would like a lot more expert information on that.
I have heard of people that didnt know they had disabilites having deformed children, should we track down cases like that and stop them procreating.

Arsenal is a top 16 European club that will remain a top 16 European club and the Emirates is tape-loop that will win trophy after trophy

Nothing will change to stop Arsenal's domination except the ticket prices which must go up so that Wenger can make even more marquee signings.

Kroenke, Gazidis & Wenger are made for each other a glorious triumvirate heading for immortality.

Arsenal’s not a football club it is the one true religion Milton Palmer

Funny thing is that incest is not illegal in France, Netherlands or Spain according to Wiki. I’m surprised there isn’t a Euro law covering this. Jews have complicated rules based on the Jewish Bible but marriage in some circumstances is not barred. Most other religions seem to totally ban marriage between close relations. The Swiss are considering legalising incest.

It’s not something I’ve ever given much thought to before but on the surface it might be that races/religions with a relatively small gene pool might not have any other option than to permit incest if they are to remain “”racially” pure.

It's the bane of modern medicine. It combats natural selection and helps propagate 'poor' genes. There are genetic faults that give offspring up to 50% risk of developing cancer. I don't know exact statistics on disability due to incestuous coupling, but with any genetic fault you can pretty much double the risk of passing it on. That's why gentic diversity usually leads to stronger offspring. This is seen in all life. A common example is that of 'mongrel' dogs being resistant to more diseases and having a greater lifespan than 'pure breds'.
The bottom line is that there are couplings out there that put their potential offspring at more risk than incestuous ones, but is this purely a genetic debate or a societal consideration too? The law would have you believe it's simply the former.

Having grown up between Ireland and south Africa I often joke to my Irish gf that the reason south African girls tend to be generally speaking, a lot prettier than Irish girls is that the gene pool in Ireland is a great deal shallower. Of course that's changing now.

I just read up on wiki on the laws in various countries. Apparently here in ireland, if youre a woman the max penalty for incest is 7 years but if youre male its life!
How did they come to that differentiation i wonder.
