I had this idea a while back that if a runner from a smallish yard had been well-backed it probably meant more than the same from one of the bigger yards, whose horses would be backed just on reputation alone. So I did a bit of research and found a profitable angle. I checked back five years and narrowed the list down until I had a group of smaller NH trainers who it paid to follow, in every one of the last five seasons, when their horses were fancied.

I started backing them a few months ago but was very wary of this system, any system based on trainers in fact, as things can change rapidly in any yard. I was going to keep a very close eye on it and dump it the minute it started running up a loss. I'd no need to worry, surprisingly it's turned into one of my most profitable systems. As of yesterday,

Run 231
Won 72 (SR 31%)
+ £64.74 (ROI 28%)

Seeing as it is so successful over the jumps, I looked at similar rules for flat handicaps and have come up with this list,

E Alston, AD Brown, RJ Hodges, DK Ivory, I Jardine, DR Lanigan, JGM O'Shea, Sir Mark Prescott, RJ Price, DM Simcock, R varian, CF Wall.

A couple of big names, but overall a motley bunch to try and make a profit from, but they've all done it for each of the last 5 years under the system rules. I'll be giving it a go, but again keeping a very close eye on it.
