I have no sympathy for cheats in sport they deserve all they get by way of punishment. Harsh sentences are the only deterrent

Doesn't give you much faith in betting does it.. Hopefully this is a rare occurrence and most jockeys are as straight as a die ..

I thought it was common knowledge that the exchanges flagged up any unusual betting patterns, so you wonder how they thought they'd get away with it. Perhaps he could get a job as a tennis umpire.

I'm just playing devil's advocate here, but it does beg the question.

Alan King talking about Montbazon,

"will probably run in the Betfair Hurdle. It will be too soft for him and he'll want the outing, but he needs to have a prep if he's going to go to Cheltenham"

Whilst I appreciate King is being perfectly open and honest about it, just put yourself in the position of a betting shop punter, or some ordinary Joe having a day out at Newbury, who has no knowledge of what King has said in the Weekender. He might well put his fiver on Montbazon, but if so won't he be ripped off just as surely as if he'd put his fiver on one of the nags Egan pulled ?
