Just switched the athletics on and she looks to be struggling.

Rarely watch athletics today, you hear all the hype about how it inspires the young, really? The last Scottish athlete I can remember was Dundee's Liz McColgan, I think that was about thirty years ago.

In Camperdown Park today, we used to cycle there to play tennis and pitch and putt during the school holidays, today not one person on the tennis courts or pitch and putt, even the golf course was quiet. So much for all this inspiration for the youth of today.

I get what you say,but to be competetive at the highest levels in Athletics,in most cases one has to be naturally talented.
If kids haven't got that there is no point in kidding themselves.no matter how much hard work one puts in it will take something special to compete with those born with natural ability and speed.
How many white athletes have won medals in sprint events over the last 40 years.
Alan Wells was the last white sprinter to win Gold even then it was won in the absence of Black American sprinters.

Just googled her, she's from Fife and her club is Dundee Hawkhill Harriers, (that's a blast from the past), Menzieshill had a good men's hockey team and volleyball team when I was young, haven't heard of them for years either. Dundee Wheelers Cycling Club is another name of old, used to see them outside Camperdown Park gates every Sunday with their tracksuit tops with the club name emblazoned across the back, haven't seen them for years. Then there were Dundee Road Runners, used to see they guys all over town in their blue and white vests out training. That's got me worried there were three guys I saw every week out on their own running, never see any of them these days, they'll probably be about sixty now, strange how, people you used to see frequently vanish. 20years ago the streets were full of joggers, perhaps all that exercise has put them in an early grave.(Sm124)

It's in the testosterone seemingly. One woman almost in tears because she is struggling to compete with another, what about the folk that can't compete against her???
