What we need is a leader who knows what they are doing, one who thought/(thinks?)we would be better off in Europe taking us out, one that said there won't be an election before 2020 calling a snap election. Not sure about a genteel Erdogan, but she will obviously get the turkey votes.

I shall vote for May AND Corbyn... May because she will be the better at getting us through Brexit... and Corbyn because he is a humanitarian and will rescue the poor

It also occurred... doesn;t Corbyn and Abbott have a nice ring to it... like Cannon and Ball, Morecambe and Wise, Flanagan and Allen... and Abbott and Costello

This is sensible politics, we need a determined approach to the next few years after which we can have muddle as usual. This approach was logical and has proved necessary by the constant undermining by the whole of the political establishment to undermine the will of the British people. No matter your political persuasion if you want the best outcome from Brexit vote for a brexit candidate. Make no mistake that any weakness will be pounced upon by the EU to advantage themselves at our expense. A strong brexit will produce the best reformation of the EU to the advantage of those paying the price of the euro maniacs of the soviet eu.In other words the massively future less unemployed youth of southern Europe. Back to the UK........we need a fresh approach so that Brexit does not dominate as it does now to the detriment of many equally important issues. Let us get the bull and liars exposed to form a clear choice and put ourselves on a clear path to the most successful brexit possible. A house divided and all that. Clear translations follow.....single market =remain.....common customs union = remain.......superiority of the eu court = remain. No clear answer = remain. This process will offer the opportunity to reform the conservative path that many find unpalatable, the many includes myself. Let us not be myopic and instead do individually what is best for ourselves which will be the best for our country. Demand more than brexit and partisanship, if not you have only yourself to blame for failings in our collective future.

The only way to create a better Britain is to create a better world for all.
The Empire is no more, Great Britain is no longer great and the United Kingdom is not united. We need to move on into a 21st century civilised world, where wealth and kindness is shared and not to continue with state economies fighting one another. We live in a global market, increasing wages and improving working conditions in one country makes companies move to another, capitalism is the enemy and will continue to be unless people work together for the good of mankind and not the greed of a few.

You pose a lot of difficulties of our modern world Jilted that I also see.....the difficulty is in how we address them. A unified approach would be desirable but you know in your socialist heart that will never happen. Florence Nightingale offers your possible solution. My posts never make interpretation easy but that is my way. The dessert was Dundee, for example, in hoping to retain the past. The solution is elsewhere and unpalatable, the alternative is self imposed destitution and martyrdom. On a lighter note...where do you go when visiting Liverpool for your few days?

I think this election result will not be the landslide that St Theresa expects or the pundits forecast.
Agree with Brian... Brexit needs May and strength... but the Tories need some heart installing.
Plus she could well be shooting herself in the foot saying she will not take part in public debate...

This election is for political gain and has nothing to do with Brexit.

It will never happen if people keep running away and stick their heads in the sand, that's for sure.

Been to Liverpool the past three years, love a wander around the Albert Dock, done the ferry, the Cavern, the new cathedral, would like to go and see the old one. Been to Goodison would like to see a game at Anfield but it's usually preseason when I'm there. Been to Chester, New Brighton, Manchester and Southport. This will probably be my last time to Liverpool for a few years.

The Tories have smelt the blood of Tory B_liars backstabbing of the Labour Party, so are going in for the kill so they can bring in more draconian cuts and suffering to our fellow Brits. OR, they are hoping the British people have came to their senses and will vote Labour in so Brexit doesn't go ahead.

The German sub museum including ferry cross the Mersey is worth a visit...hanging around the pier head and walking down past the cruise terminal gives you a view of the old docks from the inside that I had not seen until last year in over 45 years of journeys to Liverpool. New Brighton has become a very cool place of late and a few hours walking along the beach to the ferry terminal on a sunny day is not wasted with some great views of the opposite side which is Liverpool.Good bad and the ugly, that is Liverpool. It is one great city. Peel holdings think so, They are sinking about £5b into the waterfront area.

Nation states, ethnic loyalties, irrational desires to kill thy neighbour are going to be around for a long time yet.

My trip to Southport.
Me and bint go to the Liverpool bus station and get the EXPRESS BUS to Southport. Lovely warm day, so we have a walk through the Victorian arcade then along to the market, head along the high street where I spy a sign for the lawnmower museum, well this was just somewhere I had to visit, after walking for what seemed ages (perhaps it was just the heat getting me), voila, there it was, a hardware store. Pay the guy three quid a skull and he says someone has just went in before us and if we wanted to listen to the recorded tour we would need to wait fifteen minutes, declining his offer we say we'll get the gist of things ourselves.

http://i68.tinypic.com/10qdrhe.jpg

This snazzy little number was once owned by Birkenhead blonde bombshell, Lily Savage.

http://i68.tinypic.com/a4mydz.jpg

Anyway we overtook the people in front of us and made for the exit, shouting over to the owner on the way out that it had been very interesting. Not sure how I kept a straight face.
Another long walk back into town but it was worth it as I convinced the missus an ale was in order. After a couple, we bought some sandwiches and headed for the boating lake for a picnic, yum yum. Well being by the seaside I thought a wee paddle would be just the thing to cool my sweaty feet, unfortunately the tide was out.

http://i63.tinypic.com/2a7d08z.jpg

So we had a stroll along the pier to see if we could see the sea instead. Heading back to dry land I spot this cafe/bar with a large terrace and an outdoor stage, time for another pit stop.

http://i64.tinypic.com/333k5li.jpg

There were two brothers singing, seemingly they usually play the costas (no the coffee shops, Spain) and to be honest it felt like being abroad, oh ffs, I hadn't noticed the time, it was teatime and the Dundee Derby was on the telly later, so it was adios to the two lads and time to get the bus back to Liverpoool. Waited and waited for the bus and when it arrived we jumped on, big mistake, it wasn't the EXPRESS BUS, this bus stopped at every village, hamlet and farm road on route. Having consumed six pints of amber nectar I tells the bint I need to get off, so I'm sitting cross legged and as the bus turns the corner here's this big boozer, hit the bell I tell her. I was off that bus across the road, straight into the bog and pisssssshhhhh, happy days. Checks the time, 7 o'clock, the pub wasn't busy so I asks the barman if he could show the Dundee match, no problems he says, so we order up some tuck. Bints phone rings, it's her bro who is in Italy, he's a United fan and tells her it will be 2-1 United, she, who has never been in a bookies before but believes everything her brother tells her nips ben and sticks a fiver on 2-1 at 8/1.

http://i64.tinypic.com/otlweg.jpg

What more could a man want, a beer, a mixed grill and footy on the telly.

http://i68.tinypic.com/2wn03nl.jpg

0-0 half time and the pub is getting busier and a few of the locals are having a chat, 2-0 United, then with less than 10 minutes to go 2-1 and the locals are all cheering for bint as her line is almost up, 94th minute Bints walking out the door to collect her winnings, GET IN 2-2 last kick of the ball.[:wor kid:]
10 o'clock and it's pub quiz time, I kid you not, 10pm and they start quizzing, so we team up with a couple of old guys to form a team, needless to say we didn't win. The witching hour and JJ and bint are @#$%& so go for the bus, it's dark and we can't read the bus timetable, so we try taking pictures of the timetable to see if we can shed any light on the time of the last bus, but to no avail.

http://i64.tinypic.com/2bxpav.jpgh

Now bint is needing a wee wee, so we nip behind this wall, me on look out, ffs, the frigging bus passes, so we are blootered, didn't even know where we were, so we start walking in the direction of the bus we got off was heading, total silence, not a motor in sight, so we sits down at a bus stop thinking we are going to have to google ourselves out of here and try and find out where we are in order to phone a taxi, when hallelujaha this wee minibus comes along the road with Liverpool on the front, Champion.
Sorry for wasting your time but I have great memories of that day.

"But the big story of the election is the Tory revival in Scotland. Ferguslie Park in Paisley - Britain's most deprived area – has elected a Conservative as have the people of Shettleston and Calton in Glasgow".

Turkeys voting for Christmas springs to mind. Perhaps the people have just given up as they see no hope for the future.

In a couple of Pubs last night and out of around twelve people I asked, only two had voted and one of those had put a cross in the box which has probably voided his vote and the other didn't understand the ballot paper. Myself I got totally pished and never voted.
