If possible can we make this a sticky for anybody wanting to talk rugby league please mods ?

first games of the season last night with Warriors and Rhinos both winning quite comfortably.
shock of the round so far was the Giants away demolition of the Saints by 40 points to 4 ..I thought the try the saints got was a forward pass as well, but i would do.

The saints were abysmal though,i cant ever remember seeing them play that badly before,or perhaps i'm taking something away from the Giants good performance, their first win at Saints since 1977ish ..

A very good game on Sky last night between Warriors and Wolves.. ending in a 17 - 17 draw .. Warriors edging the first half and then defending superbly at times in the second half, before snatching a drop goal with 8 minutes to go,only for Wolves to get their own drop goal via the post.. all in all a great game with both sides deserving to get something out of it,so a draw being a fair result..Warrington looking like the team to beat again, with Wigan making the top 4 ..

The Storm were just too well organised for the Rhinos.

Lets hope that my Dragons do better in a couple of weeks. Not a great draw. The world champions away in round 1.

I wanted the rhinos to win, i hate losing to the Arrogant Aussies at any sport.Having said that, they just about deserved their victory with a good showing in defence, poor Burrows must be kicking himself after dropping that pass.

Alfie

I am afraid that we will be fighting for the wooden spoon this year. Our World Club Champion team of three years ago has been decimated and we are rebuilding.

Thanks for your support though. Not sure that you would like our club colours though

I watched the match this morning live Shanghai,a very convincing win for the Rabbitohs, looks like they will be thereabouts at the finish of the season...

whats happening with the Cronulla sharks,? rumours are abound over here that up too 14 players could be suspended by the ASADA investigation (Sm122).. what have you heard over there?

Re: Superleague thread

The Sharkies look like they could be in big trouble.

I just heard on the radio that the Sharks are prepared to pay the 14 players to plead guilty and take a six month suspension. Not sure if it is just a rumour or not yet.

They are accused of taking banned substances in 2011. Several of those involved will have moved to other clubs so it will not just be the Sharks effected. Frizzell who just signed for us would have been there then. Lets hope he was not involved.

It will not stop with the players. The coaching staff and all the admin right up to the CEO will be held accountable.

The coach in 2011 was Rivky Stewart, One of Leagues favourite sons. Now coach of the Parramattta Eels.

Looking for a positive out of this is the Sharkies do lose a heap of players then we won't get the wooden spoon.

OK well the board are now trying to point the finger at the management and have just sacked the GM, Coach, trainers and performance / medical staff.

They have allegedly offered to pay the players for six months and offered them one year extensions to their contracts if they will plead guilty and take a six month expulsion and sign a deed stating that they will not sue the club.

Not sure what they are offering the former Sharks players that are involved and have left the club. Or indeed what they are offering their new clubs.

The strange thing is that I understand the the NRL have asked ASADA if they have the evidence against the players that will stand up in court. ASADA are supposed to have said, not yet.

Under those circumstances why would any of the players plead guilty.

The Sharks are expected to be at full strength for their game on Sunday. Except for their entire coacking staff that is,

Easy wins for hull, wigan, huddersfield and Saints tonight with Widnes fighting back for a spirited draw.. stand out result being Saints good performance and easy away win against a very lacklustre wolves side.. Halesowen will be fuming and Colin will be knocking the sangria back with a smile on his face. thumbs down

Storm 30 Dragons 10

The boys actually played reasonably well. Storm got a couple of tries against the run of pay which screwed the score.

Next week we at home to the Boncos. Hopefully we can get two points . I will be there. Cannot wait.

There are a lot of Poms suddenly coming over here to play these days. Has the money dried up over there?

Sam Burgess was pretty awesome tonight for the Bunnies against Manly,

Garteh Widdop has just signed on for the Dragons for next year. We got beaten up by the Roosters yesterday. It was not pretty.

Chunky/stocky lad, plays hard and hits high in the tackle more than is needed. Second rower who bases his game on defence rather than attack. Could go well down under but discipline would need working on.

Thought I'd jump on this thread, now that I've seen it.

Great to see Wigan top of the pile!

Been very impressed by the standard of the NRL since we got here. Bunnies, Roosters and the Storm seem the real deal and Manly are on the hardest teams I've seen for a while.

Does anybody think there is any truth in the rumour that Tompkins will be coming over? I've stuck my neck out with a few of the natives and claimed that he's on a par with Billy Slater, which earned me some funny looks!

The Messiah scored two on his debut. One disallowed and should have had another. He is class.

Love to see Tomkins out here. The more Pos the better for me. We will have a great pack soon with just the Poms playing out here.

Graham. Burgess, Burgess, Heighington. Two more Burgesses to come.

The backs are a bit thin yet with only Reid and Widdop.

Hopefully Thurston is as woeful as he has been in his past few games.

Tamou the Australian Prop is out suspended after being caught by the police drink driving. He was four times over the limit. had three others in the acr and does not even have a licence. What is wrong with these idiots?

He has already signed a contract with Penrith Panthers for next year.

He had been dropped to second grade with the Dragons and all the stories around town were of him falling out with his team mates. I think that it suited him and the Dragons for him to go asap.

As for signing with the Broncos they seem to be struggling and needed aplay maker with Gower having left to come back to Newcastle Knights so I guess he fit theri bill.
