If Rodriguez AND Trippier go.........

Its a worry, especially if Trippier goes.
I think weve been really lucky over the 2 or 3 years with getting some quality full-backs in, but in general, they are so hard to find. I cant see us carrying on the series of finding another good full-back given our wage limitations.

I see Akinbiyi's pimping for Jay.

Brought this up with both my Dad and Fred over the weekend.

I think we will lose both unfortunately.

Strangely though, even though I rate Jay as the best Burnley player I've ever seen, I'd sooner lose him than Trippier this Summer.

I can't see Trippier going to be honest. He could have sat at Man City but came here, in part it seems, for first team football. If he headed off to the Premier League he'd be back to spending time on the bench again.

The piece in the Mail said Newcastle were interested in him as a replacement for Danny Simpson. If that is the case, and Newcastle are offering him the chance of first team football, then we've no possibility of keeping him.

Whether that Mail story has any basis in fact is another matter though. Who knows ? It's a big risk for Newcastle, they're top 6 and looking at at Champions League football, do they really want an inexperienced, young full-back from the Championship ?

And the other point, which I forgot to type, was that I don't reckon he's good enough for a decent premier league team yet.

Just what I'm thinking aggi, a lower end team might take a punt on him, but a top 6 team thinking about Europe ? Surely not.

This mornings Mail has Everton interested in signing Jay; we apparently want £8m which may be the stumbling block.

If the price is right and its a first team premiership chance.

We cannot stand in thier way!

People (like Golly) who know Jay and his family are adamant he doesnt want to go, and there has been no issue to address. I think people are expecting it so much, they have accepted it already, maybe this acceptence might push Jay out the door.

Anyway if Tripp goes to Newcastle, i would like to see Williams have a chance to fill the void!

I think the main reason most are expecting it is that he hasn't signed a new contract with only one year left.

Apparently a rumour that was doing the rounds at that awards ceremony on Sunday was Sunderland have offered £5m plus Westwood and Wickham on loan.
Pretty low down in the list of Burnley rumours I would have thought though.

Article from The Sun : [www.thesun.co.uk]

£8m would be nice, but i cant see it. Whatever he goes for (if he goes), we'll probably never get to find out. Undisclosed.

Anyway, all these stories may help push his value up. Keep em coming !

Blackpool got a few Liverpool lads on-loan when they sold Charlie Adam, didn't they? Sounds like there's plenty after his services anyway, that can only be a good thing for us.

Aggi, he can't sign something he hasn't been offered.

Fact is, by what will be the rules of the game in the next year or so, we probably can't afford to even continue to pay him what he's on now, let alone an increase - even if we wanted to.

Wasnt the rule that's coming in something like 60% of turnover on wages?
Would leave us with an annual wage bill of about £6M, which is about £115K a week for the whole squad.

Anyone know if this includes all non-playing staff? NI contributions etc?

Its not turnover related in the championship

What I don't think is clear is what happens to the £5m loss that a club will be allowed to make. Will that be written off for the following season and the club allowed to make another £5M loss, or will it be accumulative and they'll be £5M down on their balance sheet for the next season.

As long as we get decent brass for Jay Rod. I think we can live with an Austin and Ings partnership, with Sicknote in reserve.
