2012 squad finalised.
Im still not sure they can win the big one, and doubt that Wiggins or indeed the squad can do what's needed in the mountains.
Maybe they can win the Giro or Vuelta this though ?

Haven't looked at it myself, but I believe that this years route isn't too difficult in the mountains, and there are more TTs. Right up Brad's street in other words, possibly Evans likes the sound of it as well.

If they don't get sidetracked with Cav v Brad or even Brad v Froomes issues I think they could dominate this year's Tour.

Interesting to hear Wiggins today with his totally opposite view to Cav, on Millar and the Olympics.
Did they fall out at Beijing? I seem to remember something about that.
Two strong personalities in that team, might not be all rosy.

It'll take some managing Fred, in Brad, Cav, Froome, Thomas and Boasson-Hagen they've got five riders who'd be team- leader in most teams. Five great big egos there.

BMC didn't have any Tour winners last year and their team was nowhere near as strong as Sky is this year. Didn't stop rubber-face winning the Tour though did it ?

I meant people capable of winning the tour not people that had won the tour.

You forget that OLD rubber face was wearing the rainbow colours of the World Road racing champ. He has been in the top three for a few years now. He is also an excellent climber unlike the curent wearer of that shirt.

He is still a miserable whingeing @#$%&.

You just never know Shanghai, until last year Evans looked like he was never going to win the Tour, he'd had enough chances before. It's all a matter of opinion of course, but if riders who have just finished 2nd in the Vuelta (Froome) and 3rd in the Vuelta and 4th in the Tour (Wiggins) aren't capable of winning it, then who is ?

I think this year it will suit both Wiggins and Evans, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if your mate won it again.

Team Sky for the Tour Down Under:-

41 Edvald Boasson Hagen (Nor)
42 Geraint Thomas (GBr)
43 Christopher Sutton (Aus)
44 Alex Dowsett (GBr)
45 Michael Rogers (Aus)
46 Danny Pate (USA)
47 Mathew Hayman (Aus)

Looks a very strong team to me, I don't see a weak link in it, they'll give Greenedge something to think about. Be most interested to see how Dowsett goes, he could possibly make the breakthrough this year.

Good lad Gerrans, I can remember reading long before the 2010 TDF that Sky had targeted one particular stage for Gerrans and I had it noted down in my little betting book. He would have been a big price that day but he went out injured quite early in the race, so he never got the chance to make me some money.

Be interesting to see how Greenedge do in the Tour this year. Their man won this race but they finished 14th in the Team Classification, Sky finished 2nd. Do they have a strong enough squad to make an impact in the Tour de France ?

Who's the management team Shanghai, I've no idea. Have they any experience of road-racing or are they from a track background like Brailsford ? It's taken him a couple of years to get to grips with it, so maybe it'll be the same for them.

Like Sky though, I don't think they'll be playing at it, and like Sky they have some world-class track riders they can bring through, I would expect them to be a real force before too long.

I was tempted to buy some of his Livestrong stuff a couple of year ago, and i know the cost shouldnt be a point due to the cause, but it was just too expensive.

Just what I thought when I saw the results Fred, I've had to look him up. Seems he was a junior track star in the UK and went over to Belgium riding for Lotto and Phillipe Gilbert took him under his wing. Gilbert signed for BMC this year and took Blythe with him. Seems like one that's slipped through Sky's net, or would Brailsford have lost interest when he moved to Belgium ?

How do they train in Qatar, I've yet to meet someone in Qatar who hasn't been involved in a road accident. One of our client's told me a few days after she arrived that she was sending her bike over as she was into her cycling, I told her to get another hobby if she wanted to see next Christmas.

Someone went into the back of me at a red light, pulled round me and drove off. This is normal.

Honestly, driving to work every morning was like Russian Roulette.

Even the military can't drive, some bloke in military uniform somehow managed to achieve this, weeks after someone a little further up the road did the same to a speed camera:

Truth is, I thought it mattered. I thought that music mattered. But does it bollocks. Not compared to how people matter.

Saw an interview with Cav last week. He was asked if he thought Mark Renshaw might cause him problems this year. His answer was something on the lines of "No, Renshaw can't beat me, he might help someone else to beat me, but he won't beat me. The only rider who might be able to beat me this year is Matt Goss".

Two races coming up for Sky,

14-19 Feb. Tour of Oman

Davide Appollonio, Michael Barry, Mark Cavendish, Bernhard Eisel, Mathew Hayman, Jeremy Hunt, Ian Stannard, Chris Sutton.

15-19 Feb. Volta ao Algarve

Edvald Boasson Hagen, Chris Froome, Thomas Löfkvist, Lars-Petter Nordhaug, Richie Porte, Kanstantsin Siutsou, Bradley Wiggins, Xabier Zandio

Looks like Cav and his lead-out team get more practice in Oman, while the Tour de France GC riders get a run out in the Algarve race.

Luke Rowe in for Michael Barry, he crashed last week so I assume he's injured. Don't know much about Rowe except that's he's Welsh and was another top young track star.

Richie Porte should be a good addition though.

A good Tour of Algarve for Sky.
Porte wins GC, Wiggins third after winning the time trial, a stage win for Eddie, and a win for the overall team.

Not so good in The Tour of Oman though.

Re: Team SKY cycling

Been watching them both on Eurosport Fred. Cav didn't seem too interested in Oman, really struggled on a couple of the hilly stages. Don't know if Sky thought it was going to be a sprinter's race, but if so they dropped a bollock. There were some climbs that virtually stopped them in their tracks and Cav just never got competitive at all. He had a go in one of the early stages, got blocked near the line and never showed again.

Different story in Portugal, they just dominated the race. Don't know if you saw Porte's win. Five of them took over at the head of the race and dropped off one by one just leaving Wiggins to take Porte halfway up the last climb, then Porte just blasted away up the last 3k to win easily. Very impressive from all of them.
