Are the Ukranians any good?
They used to be ok when Shev & Rebrov were in their prime, and Kiev had a good side. But what about now - does anyone know anything about them ?

Who have they played though?
They might have played the three worst teams in our group. Not sure if they've played Croatia?

Commentary just said it was in memory of the former England and Arsenal team doctor who passed away in January, Dr John Crane.

for the last time,it was because fans from that team got crushed and killed by a wall.

Ivory Coast is a bit different to Azerbaijan though

Ivory Coast mourns football fans

Ivory Coast has begun three days of national mourning for 19 football fans killed in a match stampede in Abidjan.

More than 130 people were injured when a wall collapsed at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny stadium shortly before a World Cup qualifier on Sunday.

The government has opened an inquiry into the incident.

World football governing body Fifa has called for a minute's silence to be held at World Cup qualifying games played on Wednesday.

Sunday's game went ahead and hosts Ivory Coast beat Malawi 5-0.

Superb results for the N.Irish and Sweaty socks, so far.

Shame about Wales, nothing to do with the football.....

Ranked 14th in the world before tonight Fred so a decent enough team.

Hard work in the second half but it always is when you play with 10 men against 12. If Rooney had decided to play for us instead of giving them the ball virtually every time he touched it we might have won a bit more easily. That's the worst I've seen him play for England, he was garbage for us in the second half and Ukraine's best player by a mile.

Great result.

Wins against Andorra and Kazakhstan in June will seal qualification.

At the moment i believe England are one of only three teams that can win it.

Interseting point raised in the commentary last night that our group is the only one that features three sides out of the world top 20 (According to the FIFA rankings).
Croatia are 7th
England are 9th
Ukraine are 14th

Not the easy group that a lot of people thought

We did well last night against a well organised side. Thought Ukraine were immense at getting bodies behind the ball and closing down the space, not allowing us to play.

Was a much better result than most will give credit for.

Totally agree with that. Ukraine are a decent team and take some beating.

My heart sank at the start as first Sheringham and then Pleat both said they fully expected England to stroll this game. With both of those muppets saying that you just knew it was going to be a hard night for us.
