Re: Davide Somma
Agree with you Norman cos this guy has a hunger that we are
badly missing up front. Beckford is a busted flush for us except when the TV cameras are present and that is only every 14 weeks or so.A luxury we cannot afford. I dont go with this thing that there is a hell of a gap between Divn i&2 cos there are 3 teams in there that gave us big problems last year and teams that have come up and also done the same.We badly need a winner but sadly I feel that our management team dont know how to admit their failings. Dont know who Robbo upset but I could hazard a guess and it is also time get him involved in our fight back cos he has a point to prove and is good enough to do it. Reply•Quote |

Re: Davide Somma
To be honest the reason he is doing so well is because for the first time in his life he has settled down and really put some effort in at training. Leeds have really built him his overall fitness up and now they are getting him game time so he develops. His ability to find himself in the right spot at the right time is a true strength and the fact he has some decent skill with the ball at his feet really helps.
Somma has alway had enough ability to really become a very good player and it was a maktter of finding a club willing to develop him and that is what Leeds are trying to do now. I do believe that Leeds should have sent Grella with him out on loan as I think he would be making the same sort of strides as somma. Reply•Quote |

Re: Davide Somma
Keep him there till the end of his loan and if they want to extend it let them... Get him some first team experience and then end of the season he cna come back all the better for the experience... He's 24 now though so he can't afford to be a flop it's make or break time...
He needs to carry on with goals and performances... and then take that onto next season with us... Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son! Reply•Quote |

Re: Davide Somma
tbh i wouldnt worry to much of what he is doing there, end of the day it is league 2 he playing in..
nice for him though to be scoring but it a differant level in league one when you playing against the likes or Norwich Charlton Southampton Millwall etc too the like of Hereford Grimsby Darlington & Torquay ...! imo, i think Grella & Kandol are before him in the pecking order at Elland Road.. like Pablo says keep him there till end of season unles we lose a couple of players through suspensions or injuries. Re: Davide Somma
He is a Berbatov like player. You wouldn't call Berbatov fast but he has quick feet, great guile etc
I'm really excited by his progress. But I can't see Simon Grayson giving him many chances. For more proof, refer to Mike Grella. SA

Re: Davide Somma
Plenty of first team chances is an over statement mate.
Grella has hardly been given the kind of free run in the side that Sam Vokes got or Liam Dickinson got or Lee Trundle got. None of those 8 starts have come in like a good succession. They have all been sparsely spread and it's extremely harsh for a striker to come in and immediately score goals ( refer Vokes, Dickinson and Trundle for examples ) . Give Grella around 5 back to back games and then judge him. Until then, he remains a player who has not got the chance his talent deserves. SA

Re: Davide Somma
I mean that he is a Berbatov like player in many ways. He is not an out and out target man who you can use to batter the opposition but he has the physical presence about him to hold the ball and generally compete with big defenders as he is no midget like Dickov or Grella.
For a big-ish man , he has good guile and skill on the ball. So ... SA

Re: Davide Somma
Yeah, I would say he is a league two Viduka, they have a lot of similarities to their play.
However, when seeing Somma play I am surprised that his career stats are so poor as they are. He has played on lower levels where you would expect him to score a decent amount of goals, but apparently he has a very poor scoring record. It seems he played as a wide player at some clubs, does anyone know if that is correct? Looking at him play I can't imagine what the managers have been thinking putting him out wide, as he seems to have his strengths as an out and out striker. Reply•Quote |

Re: Davide Somma
Hi Leeds fans!
He's now our joint top scorer! Made a hell of impact since his arrival we are unbeaten with him 2 wins and 3 draws. Would be great if could keep him for the rest of the season even better if he stops longer. Upto to your manager really. Where is he in the pecking order? CHRIS SUTTON'S BARMY ARMY!! Reply•Quote |

Re: Davide Somma
He seems very far down the pecking order tbh.
Beckford Becchio then Kandol, Grella and Dickov all joint tbh Then Somma i would think. This might make Larry think.

Re: Davide Somma
Seen him in our last 3 home games and he scored in all of them.
Apparently he hit the ball so hard for his first one today he removed the net from its hooks! He hits the ball very hard indeed. Really hope he stops. Was he a regular scorer in your stiffs? I know he scored against us earlier in the seasson. Reply•Quote |

Re: Davide Somma
What is the big difference between Berbatov and Viduka in terms of their style ? They are similar in many ways !!
and scoring against Torquay is a not as easy as some are making it out to be. Tom Elliot has been on loan to League 2 for months now and he has hardly managed to score more than 1 goal. Says it all ... SA
